[1.1.4] BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0
Today a friend brought me a (new 1.1.4) iphone that whenever its turned on it boots and the following message appears:
BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0
over and over again.
I cannot put in DFU mode neither its recognized by iTunes or any other tool. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Go to the Apple Store where your friend bought it, and ask for help (or a replacement).

no access to the springboard I asume try turning it off and plugging it in to the comp so the comp powers it or you could try the dfu mode with the cable and cd and go from there

Thanks for your reply, but plugging it to the computer does not remedy the situation. The phone is simply not responding...

Thats the same error that comes up when trying to jailbreak ipod touch with ziphone. Try some solutions from that? Turn off, hold home button and plug into cable. See if it will go into restore mode?

Remember to connect the cable before putting in DFU mode.
Also try putting in DFU mode using the second method: hold power and home button until the phone turns off, keep holding both and wait for the Apple logo, when it shows up, release only the power button (but keep holding the home button). That worked for a friend of mine.

I managed after several tries to place the iPhone into DFU mode. I connected it to iTunes and restored it to 1.1.4 but it hangs in "Restoring iPhone firmware" any suggestions?

It's a brand new OTB 1.1.4 (wow !! it hits the store already ??) then take it back to apple store.
Why muck with it.
