Question [1.1.4 (1.1.2 OTB)] Ringtones gone silent

Well I have been searching for half a day now through the forums and googling around, but sadly the amount of noise in any kind of search for ringtones is excessive. I have found a few threads about a similar case in 1.1.3 unlocking thread, but no concrete solutions.

    Basic scenario what happened is:

1.1.2 OTB iPhone was working with TurboSIM for me for over half a year, however as it had the occasional glitch of dying with the only way of getting out of it being holding home and power for a hard reset then I decided to go for a software unlock plus newer version of FW. So I synced my iphone, restored to 1.1.4 (clean restore, no upgrade) and then used Zibris ziphone 3.0 which jailbreaked, unlocked and installed the necessary Installer app etc. All of this worked like charm.

Now I have to admit I don't remember if that issue was there immediately or wether I did have ringtones just after. But starting from yesterday (did the upgrade a few days back) the ringtones have gone silent. First I just noticed that I missed a phonecall as I didn't hear it, but today in the morning my only wakup was due to the vibration. I have now tried and all other sounds work great (ipod part, game sounds, calls etc) except for the ringtones. When I click on them in either the alarm settings or in phone ringtone settings they just are silent.

Any ideas what might have caused it or how to fix this? I have ssh access to the phone so can do it through there as well if some files need changing.

Really sorry if this has already been covered, but by both browing and searching the closest thing I found was people seeing this after 1.1.3 jailbreak and there was a fix one could install through installer by adding a new source. However as this was 1.1.3 I decided to ask before trying it on 1.1.4.

    I don't know ....
You used ziphone 3.0 which is a really bad thing to do. Your phone may work OK now but there has been so many problems with people using ziphone 3 on the phone.

At this point, I suggest you perform a DFU restore of your phone using 1.1.4 firmware. Use iLiberty+ or pwnage to JB/act/unlock your phone. Ziphone is not safe to use.

Thanks. Decided to give it a try. I restored in iTunes my phone to 1.1.4 and as it somehow immediately picked up my SIM card (a bit odd to be honest, what unlock does ziphone use that is persistent across a restore?) I only did the activate+jailbreak, sync and the ringtones work now.

Should I be worried about the fact that it was unlocked already after a restore or is the restore you can do in iTunes not that destructive when going from 1.1.4 to 1.1.4 (e.g. baseband can't be flashed by iTunes)?

    That is normal.
Unlock survives the restore because your baseband is still the same version which has been unlocked previously.

The only time you need to unlock again is if the baseband version changed. The only time your baseband is upgraded via itunes is if the new firmware from Apple has a new BB fw in it.

BTW, ziphone unlocking is based on the same program as other tool. However, the method in which it is executed may cause problem (i think)
