[1.1.4 (1.1.2 OTB)] - Problem - Baseband issue(?) after 5A240d
First let me get this out of the way, I messed up.
I am an AT&T user and wanted to get 5A240d going, so I used Pwnage 1.1 to first PWN my 1.1.4, then created a custom restore that had checked what I needed to in order to unlock baseband and activate the phone. For whatever reason, when I upgraded to the custom 1.1.4 and continued reading threads, I read that I may not have needed to unlock the baseband (but that was only if I wanted to jailbreak, but I wanted to go to 2.0). So, after the 1.1.4 custom finished, I went into my voicemail and saw that it was dialing and not giving me visual voicemail. (I didn't realize it takes a bit to connect to ATT and not just show the dialing screen).
I believe I then went back to 1.1.4 without turning off bootneuter (since I had pwnage clean up after install), and then tried another custom restore with nothing checked. Then a custom of 5A240d with activate phone checked. Well, maybe after the second custom 1.1.4 (with nothing checked) restore I didn't have any ATT service, because when I got to loading the custom 2.0, I still didn't have service.
All the while my baseband has remained at 04.04.05_G.
So I now went back down to 1.1.4 using iTunes, and things work. I was now going to try again to go to 2.0 but this time actually following the FAQ, but now bootneuter claims settings in the bootloader are already correct (this only started happening after the 2.0 to 1.1.4 downgrade) and it can no longer reflash the baseband and gives error ( Error The baseband flash failed (Error -32512). Here is the progression of what happens in picture form:
I currently can use 1.1.4 with no problems, but would like to attempt 2.0 again.
Otherwise, if I don't fix this, what happens down the road when the legit 2.0 comes out, will the fact that there is something wonky with the baseband prevent legit updates down the road?
Thanks for any help.
Just curious if anyone can take a moment to help me out, or at least give some sort of advice/direction.
You need ziphone and click the jailbreak+activate button and once its normal in installer add the iclarified source (installer.iclarified.com) and click in the downgrade baseband 04.05.01_G and restore it again it should now work
Stay AWAY from ziphone !!!
Use only iplus or iLiberty+
the only way you can get 2.0 on your current 1.1.4 phone is:
- use pwned so it can pwned your OS bootloader (not baseband BL)
- after that, you can build custom firmware using 1.1.4 or 2.0
- once you have the custom firmware, you can restore to either one at will using the custom firwmare - The baseband will always be at 04.04.05_G at the moment.
- Anytime you restore using the real (non-custom)1.1.4 firmware, your OS bootloader will no longer be pwned.
Now to the bootneuter images you sent
- first image showing commcenter being unloaded
- second image showing it determining your current setting
- third image showing it is flashing (you probably push flash button - you don't have to do this)
- fourth image showing the flash failed.
What's missing is you did not look at the "existing" setting once it has done so in the second image. My guess is it should show: BL=4.6, neuter=ON, unlock=ON, which means your Baseband 4.6 Bootloader has been neutered, and the baseband is UNLOCKED
The failed message is because you phone already unlocked. You don't have to run bootneuter (hit flash) everytime. Once the BL is neutered, it stays neutered. Once the current baseband is unlocked, it stays unlocked. And yes, it survives during the restore process.
The only time you run bootneuter again is if you want to change version of BL, to remove the neutering, to remove fakeblank or to remove the unlock.

If your iphone is neutered you also can unlock the baseband of 2.0 (04.05.01_G)
But you have to do this manually on a ssh connection with putty or on your terminal vt-100 screen.
