Default [1.1.4 (1.0.2 OTB)] No Service after 10 days of working fine...

Hello all: I'm wondering if I can see what's going on with my iPhone since it's very weird and it's driving me nuts. (not sure if this belongs here or to General).

I did a lot of search on the Forum and I did added some questions on similar Threads, but no luck for me so far.

    This is the story:

I bought a 1.0.2 iPhone on Cincinnati, OH in Sept. 2007 (I'm from Argentina and bought it on a trip to US). I activated, jailbreaked and unloked using the old proc of iunlock and bbupdater from http://www.iunlock.no. All went fine and I was able to use my Argentina Movistar SIM on the phone immediately (in US and here in Argentina).

I saw 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 coming and then I saw 1.1.4 and iPlus and ZiPhone stuff and decided to upgrade.

    How did I did it?

I installed and ran "the virginizer" from iunlock.no right after that I started to see the "incorrect SIM inserted" or something like that (sounded ok to me).
Then I restored 1.1.4 directly to my phone using iTunes 7.6 (restarted in recovery mode not DFU) and then did the shift+restore and choosed the fw for 1.1.4.

That part went ok too, I got it restored with the "slide to activate" I then run ZiPhone 2.5c "do it all" got it all set, restored my backup from itunes (notes, pics, and that stuff) and then synced it so I got all my mp3 and contacts.

All was fine, I could use youtube, sms, the phone, wifi, ipod, etc. I installed packs for having reg settings for arg, etc.

I could use the phone like for 10 days or more... no issues... then suddlenly I lost signal on the phone and started to see the ugly "No Service" on it, of course I could never use sms or the phone again. I would like to mention that I never lost wifi or youtuve, or ipod... just the telephony stuff.

I tought it was an issue with the SIM, so I tested 3 SIMS on my iPhone and got the same, and put my own SIM on another iPhone and it worked fine. (so no CCID or IMEI baned on the local carriers I guess).

I found a post here that said that original 1.0.2 phones should not use the ZiPhone do it all, just use it for activate and jailbreak and use anySIM 1.3 to unlock it... so I started restoring the phone many times...

I restored to 1.1.4, 1.1.3, 1.1.2 erasing the baseband and putting phone in DFU... all is fine but right after unlock finishes (with anySIM or ZiPhone) I still get the "No Service".

Doing more read on the forum I found that there are many persons with a similar issue... some of them got no fix, some said this is a hard issue and managed to open up the back and put some tape inside because that was the issue (no getting service because the metal back was touching some part of the board), etc.
Some noticed a cable for the antenna not well connected and stuff like that...

I opened the black part (plastic one antenna cover) and got nothing... not have yet the tools for removing the metal back... but I'm not sure I'll find out anyting there...

So far... I did a lot of things and I'm not sure what's wrong with the iPhone.

Is there a way I can run a tool (or test) to definitely see if this is a software issue (corrupted BB, seczone) or a hard one?

I typed *3001#12345#* and could not see any cell info there but again... not sure if that's because a software issue or a hard issue...

I need help from you guys to bring some light here... since I'm in Argentina there's no way I can send phone here to appe review... :-(

Thank you very much in advance!!!

Here is the link --> http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...=29554&page=22

It says no signal instead of no service, but at that time it called my mind. I found another similar too, but can't find it now.

I'm noy saying what's posted there is true or not, I just listed it as one of the things I've researched for my issue.

Do you know what can I look for the problem I've just described on my post?

    Thanks!

i know some of the symptoms are different but the outcome is actually the same, trying to erase the baseband with another method

    shows unknown IMEI and ICCID.
doesn't sound like the same problem at all.

"not recommended if you don't know what your doing"

That's for sure. any confirmation that "erase baseband" will fix this problem?
