Quite right, and here is the qute from Zibri himself :

    Some facts:

ZiPhone never bricked an iPhone not even during first personal tests.
ZiPhone actually repaired many previously bricked iPhones.

99% of "bugs" I have been reported are for the same reason.

ZiPhone never touches internal security data. -i option just fakes them.
You can restore the phone to "refurbished" state just issuing:
    ziphone -e

then ziphone -D and do a full restore to any os. (thieves, you are warned!)

    Some common mistakes:

iTunes should not be killed. ZiPhone is against violence
and just ignores it and it's helper.

OSX users often have vmware running.
ZiPhone and iTunes must run on the same OS.
When doing a full restore with -D option, set
the phone as a new phone in iTunes and sync back
your data. That's the most common mistake.
The reason: data backed up from previous
jailbroken iPhones is wrong for a real 1.1.3 OS.
When you open Installer for the first time,
refresh sources, then install BSD Subsystem
from the System category before installing anything else !
About the "low space issue", there is a utility
you can find in Installer that can move the
application directory to the second iPhone
partition thus allowing you to have has many
    application your brain could bear
If you want to have the Z icon back after deleting,
there is a 'secret' option that restores only the icon
hint: it was meant for test)
The options of ZiPhone are case sensitive! I did that
on purpose to allow people to focus before issuing
    commands and read the usage.

    Enough said for now,
    Namaste!

    Happy hacking.

That means you can use ZiPhone and iTunes side by side, hope that helped you

it doesn't matter. All the .dll's and apps needed to connect the iphone are still running even though itunes itself is closed.

I suggest in reinstalling 1.1.3 from DFU mode before unlocking it. installer runs more stable that way. (no apps popping up with erros messeges when trying to download them, like BSD subsystems)

hi there...i want to buy an iphone for a friend and i want to be sure that i can jailbreak it And unlock it.. so probably it s going to be 1.1.3 OTB (i hope 1.1.4 is not out yet!)...but then i read that u can t unlock it
    http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/24/1-1-3...nears-release/

i have a trust issue..so i kept reading in this forum abt it... some have used ziphone but no luck..i think the ones that upgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 could use this tool.
    [only refering to software unlock]

so should i keep reading to find my answer?is it unlockable?!... turbosim similar cards could do the trick?

    Completly Software Unlockable ....

But if you prefer xSIM solution, it is up to you ....

BTW: Firs soft BL.4.6 unlock was out 07.02 so you readings from above is little obsolete ....

Just few hours ago a 1.1.4 Software for iPhone was released, and it is mainly BUG FIX for 1.1.3 , and there are some of them :
    .................................................. .................................................. ...................
iPhone 1.1.4 boosts cell signal strength
    February 26th, 2008
A number of users are reporting that iPhone software/firmware 1.1.4 does indeed provide a healthy boost in cell signal strength, which was severely degraded for some users under the 1.1.3 software/firmware revision (prompting a series of boosting methods including one that involves scotch tape). This enhancement stands in addition to a series of other undocumented fixes in 1.1.4.
Some positive reports from iPhone Atlas readers:
"I am getting 2-3 bars and solid edge in the Chicago Union Station north bound Tunnels. Normally would be no bars and EDGE would be sketchy. Leaving the tunnel I get instant signal. Before it would be 5-10 min before I got even bad connectivity. Loving it!" — Jeff Rowe
"I used to have an intermittent weak signal in my condo. No more since 1.1.4." — Paul Barunas
Apple updated the iPhone modem firmware with release 1.1.4, bringing it from version 4.03.13_G to version 4.0.4.05_G. The refined firmware is likely the cause of boosted signal strength.
    .................................................. ...........

But for you purpose of unlockig, should be no problem, or you cen use your unlog tools ZiPhone put the iPhone in DFU mode, download 1.1.3.ipsw (you will find link from: www.i.unlock.no) DO NOT download via iTunes since it will download new 1.1.4 software .... Then SHIFT+RESTORE, chose 1.1.3 File,RESTORE and use ZiPhone to jailbreak, activate and unlock, and withnih few minutes you should have nice working 1.1.3 iPhone which you can use with any SIM card ....
