    actually jailbreaking is not required as i discovered by chance.
    to unlock + activate without jailbreaking follow these steps
    1. Restore to 1.1.3 in iTunes
    2. When restore is finished the iPhone restarts, before the iPhone restarts quit iTunes and iTunes helper
    3. Activate + Unlock with ZiPhone
    4. You now have a unlocked iPhone that is NOT jailbroken!!

    why in the hell would u not want to have it jailbroken???
