I meant with regards to restoring the settings once you have upgraded/restored -

Ziphone says that you should restore, therefore loasing all your settings - I just wondered whether you can restore yous setting although it will be a later firmware.

if you upgrade your settings are still preserved if you restore everything gets wiped, backup your phone in itunes before you restore so you can put your contacts back on later

Do you happen to know though if a 'backup' made on 1.1.3 will restore on the new 1.1.4 from a restored firmware (i.e - everything wiped)?

When you sync your phone in itunes it backups all your contacts, email etc. If you then clicked restore in itunes, it would then wipe your phone and then put 1.1.4 onto it. Itunes would then ask you if you want to put your backed up data onto the phone.
So yes a phone backed up on 1.1.3 will restore onto 1.1.4.

Well I have done it twice and my phone has never messed up. I am not worried about a thing.

    Here are the facts:
    - Apple has records of which iPhones have been activated through AT&T. They can bring up this information based on your serial number or phone number AT THE STORE or OVER THE PHONE

Im not saying its a huge deal at the moment however, these are two different methods of unlocking the iphone, applying one on top of the other could have consequences. I personally dont know what these are but why would you generally apply two unlocks onto a phone when one does the job perfectly fine.

IPSF unlock and AnySIM 1.3/4 doing perfecly fine, can coexist (there are two or three different threads about it), but sync fresly RESTORED and unlocked iPhone with "old" one could mess things, so it is better to set up as a new iPhone, retrive contacts from outlook or use iPhonePCSuite (there can be made backup of SMS, Contacts, CallData, wallpapers, themes, ebooks ... etc) ....

Quote from READ.ME from ZiPhone :

If you find any missing icons or the iPhone is "strange" may be due to old settings files being
restored to the phone after iTunes finishes installing firmware. Be sure you choose the option
to NOT save settings and to treat the iPhone as a NEW PHONE. This is especially important if
any other jailbreak solution was used on your 1.1.3 phone before Ziphone.

    End Quote

Not sure I follow the logic. The OP stated he used IPSF, which is only intended for BL3.9, AFAIK. When you say you "used the unlock on all of them", are you saying you used IPSF to unlock them? Which guide/tutorial did you use?

hi guys not really sure if im posting in the right place but i guess its a good a place as any...

i upgraded a 1.1.2 phone that i had activated and jailbroken using this method:
    http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15849
i then put the phone into DFU mode as was suggested and restored the phone to 1.1.4 and used ziphone to activate, unlock and jailbreak it again.. everything seemed to work fine..

About a day after i did it , it stopped working and now i cant get any reception/signal from my carrier/service provider..

please tell me what i can do to make use of the phone part of my iPhone!!

    thanks to anyone that helps
