1.1.3 soft-update iClarified method: Installer.app not working. Ideas?
Solved - see below
Been searching around the forum for a thread detailing a similar problem for a while now, but I can't seem to find one. If merely missed it, I apologize for clogging the boards with another thread and would be ever so grateful for a link to said thread.
With that said, the problem is as follows:
Ran Geohots unlock on a jailbroken OTB 1.1.2 phone. Worked like a charm. After some agonizing, I opted for also doing a soft-update to 1.1.3 using the iClarified method through the installer. Update is quick and painless, phone boots, wifi, edge and the whole sha-bang works - though I did end up with the SMS app showing numbers instead of names. The real trouble is that Installer.app, however, doesn't work - it merely shows a white screen with a blue border on top, then crashes after som 10ish seconds. I can still SSH into the phone just fine, but I'm frankly not sure where to go from here.
Anyone with some ideas to spare?
Found the solution after some more digging around and expeimenting.
1) Downloaded a fresh copy of Installer.app from http://repository.apptapp.com/packag.../Installer.zip.
2) Fired up WinSCP and copied the unzipped Installer.app to /Applications.
3) Opened a terminal window while in the /Applications directory.
4) Issued the commands:
rm -rf Installer.app
chmod +s Installer.app/Installer
chown -R root:wheel Installer.app
Note that if you're in the root directory ("/") you'll need to add "/Applications/" (without the quotes) in front of the commands detailed above.

how do u do step 3? when u say open up a terminal, how do u do that?
im in APPLICATIONS on WINSCP. and im stuck here
You should be able to issue those commands from the WinSCP terminal (Commands -> Open Terminal), or you could just use Putty for it.
Good luck. :-)
