Can someone please tell me if it is possible to have a 1.1.3 OTB iPhone and allow it to keep all functionality that is has but be able to add 3rd party applications like SummerBoard, Finder and most obviously Installer as well as be able to use WinSCP to get into the file structure of the phone from my computer (PC)?

If this is possible, can you please point me in the direction of a good and trusted tutorial to do this? If not, is there any chance that this could happen in the near future?

I just don't want to even try this if it is not possible.
Any iPhone can be jailbroken. Downgrade to 1.1.1, use oktoprep, upgrade to 1.1.2, use the dev team's application to soft-upgrade to 1.1.3. Follow the tutorials in the first post of the sticky thread, http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25677

I can't believe so many people are still under the mistaken assumption that OTB 1.1.3 can't be jailbroken, or can be jailbroken with a lack of phone functionality.

Both statements are wrong. I've jailbroken several OTB 1.1.3 iPhones, and I know others have done the same thing, with full phone functionality.

    Again:

1.1.3 OTB can be jailbroken with full phone functionality. You just can't unlock it right now (without HW mod to downgrade the BL).

EDIT: nevermind.. i've just read this http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27936

    Hi there,

Sorry, english is not my mother tongue so.. Do you mean there is already a public method to downgrade the bootloader with an hardware process (I know there is a method for 1.1.2 OTB, but I don't think it can be applied "as is" to 1.1.3, can it?)

    Thanks

And, when you say OTB 1.1.3,
You mean iPhone with firmware 1.1.3, Bootloader 4.6 and baseband 04_03.13?
If you do, you should tell everybody howto, please ?

There's nothing unusual about it, and the guide that I used is already here.

Just follow this guide, which is about going to a stock 1.1.3, then down to 1.1.1, then eventually back up to jb 1.1.3. On OTB 1.1.3 you just start at the point of going down to 1.1.1:

Plenty of people have trouble doing this, but it's not due to 1.1.3 OTB--they've had trouble on any version, usually by not getting into DFU properly. If you can get into DFU reliably it's not an issue--and if you follow the above guide you should be able to. I also recommend using the lastest 1.1.2 jb (jailbreak.jar dated 11/20/2007).

Phone works, but you have to get back up to 1.1.3 before it will do so. While in 1.1.1 I usually get stuck at invalid SIM, and iTunes won't work right (but *#304# works). Also needed to use iBrickr to boot out of recovery mode.

Oh yea, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is that you need to restore to 1.1.1 twice. The first time you won't be able to get out of recovery mode. But the second time iBrickr will do the trick. Once on 1.1.1 (not activated) you use the *#304# trick to jailbreak it.

Once jb on 1.1.1 you are ready for Oktoprep, and then the 1.1.2 jailbreak. Boot to the Springboard and run the 1.1.3 dev team jb via Installer (I have had the best luck with version 3).

The main thing is to not give up. If you don't believe it's possible don't even bother trying: otherwise you are destined to give up (just like many non-OTB 1.1.3 owners have done, prematurely).

Worst case scenario you do a full iTunes restore back to 1.1.3. There is no risk.

    No Mike
I am talking about iPhone 1.1.3 OTB with 4.6 bootloader and baseband 04_03.13,
and people who are interested in either jailbreak, hw or sw unlock, without activating through Itunes
The guide you mention doesn't take care of this.

I know I can softupgrade and get a working phone with my Next sim, but i'm not interested, since there's not much gained by doing it.

People make me confused ALL THE TIME. Is the following statement true:

1.1.3 OTB = Out of the box = Brand new iphone from a store with a firmware 1.1.3
-> MUST HAVE bootloader 4.6 and baseband 04_03.13

    If not, please enlighten me.
