try with the phone completely off, unplugged, open itunes, and plug in the phone holding home (it will power on) keep holding, it will put it in DFU, i realized this works with error1 (no restore)

i think there are different dfu modes, some restore the firmware, some restore everything.. but this isn't really proven.. but the methos above worked for me with a miserable phone that wouldnt restore

I've jb an OTB 1.1.3 iPhone. Used a Windows XP box running iTunes 7.6.

On the Windows box DFU is pretty easy since you can listen to the USB connect tones to help out. I start out with the iPhone already connected, and then hold down sleep/home till I hear the USB disconnect sound. Then I let go of sleep while still holding home. In 20 or so seconds, when I hear the USB sound again, I release home. This works consistently for me.

This lets me shift-restore to 1.1.1, which ends in error 1015. iBrickr .91 won't boot it (green instead of red screen). I then do another shift-restore to 1.1.1 and then iBrickr .91 boots it.

From there it's the *#306# trick to set prefs and then jailbreak 1.1.1 via jailbreakme.com.

Then, while in 1.1.1 (but no working phone service), I Install BSD, and OKtoprep (without updating Installer!).

Then it's the 1.1.2 jb via java. When finished iTunes activates iPhone (but phone calls are still not possible).

At that point it's just a matter of doing the soft 1.1.3 jb. To be frank, I recommend Nate's. I've done both and there are more issues with the dev team's IMHO. But either way once you are on jb 1.1.2 the rest is easy.

    Thumbs up

Good work, BUT It works only to 1.1.1 jailbreak. From there, I could not JB 1.1.2.

When I UPDATE from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, it locks under RESTORE mode.

    I'm using ITUNES 7.6 and a 1.1.3 OTB

Well it wasn't my imagination. Sealed box.

Keep in mind this is jailbreak-only with full phone functionality, but with the original AT&T SIM. I didn't unlock it of course.

What part of this thread is about unlocking? The OP didn't mention it.

I can confirm that this method works 100%!!
I also had to upgrade to 1.1.3 after i messed up the HW method. Thought i was stuck with an unjailbroken brick until i saw this. Now running 1.1.1 jailbroken and getting ready for 1.1.2 -->1.1.3.

    Sticky this thread mods!
