There is a lot of misinformation here. If you guys have done an unlocking of a 113 OOB then at least tell him step by step what needs to be done instead of pointing him to vague guides, that are not relevant in this context.

First most people with 113 are not getting the right advice, the forums are full of people with older phones who are very familiar with the entire process and make too many presumptions to help newbies. Plus because these phones have been unlocked with other methods there are lots of issues that do no not affect a brand new 113.

I have had to read more than 500 forum pages and track ziphone in IRC over 4 days to get the most basic information so these forums are not really helping newbies.

You already have 113, why would you need to restore to 113? I guess over these 3 pages nobody bothered to tell you that. iWorld is not needed anymore, nobody bothered to tell you that either.

This is how you do it. I don't have Vista or Mac so I am using XP and this is relevant to XP.

    1. Take phone out of box. Switch it on. To get a basic idea of how to operate the phone and what some terms mean, head over to howardforums and read this short post http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1328086

    2. Install iTunes 7.6 if you don't have it.

    3. Connect new iPhone to your PC with the USB cable.

    4. iTunes will detect your phone and ask you to activate. Ignore it. We just need Itunes to detect the phone. Ignore iTunes for the time being and any messages it gives you.

    5. Now download Ziphone 2.4 and extract the contents in a folder called ziphone and place it in your C drive.

    6. In case you can't use a command prompt, here is what you need to do. In the 'run' box in your start menu type "cmd", a command prompt window will open up. Now you need to go where you extracted your ziphone folder, in C. so type 'cd c:/ziphone'

    7. You iPhone should be 'on' and have the screen 'slide for emergency'.

    8. I am presuming you have OOB 113 and want to unlock, activate and jailbreak. Run this command. 'ziphone -u -a -j'

    9. In 2 and a half minutes you phone should be unlocked. The phone will restart, put a sim card in and test its functionality.

If you get a 'slide for emergency' after this process, try another sim card. If no go then you can follow any of the other guides because now you would have to restore to 113 to do the process again and most of the guides start off here.

    Note
    a. In case you get errors dialing out or sending sms, you will have to install AppSupport (an application for the iPhone) but this is not happening on fresh 113 phones. Caller ID will probably not work properly in which case you will definitely need to get AppSupport and see if it supports your country. There is a way to resolve this in a thread on this forum.

    b. Problems with Youtube, Network, Wifi are also not generally affecting fresh 113 phones. Incase you run into issues, restart the phone, reset network settings on your iPhone and see if it helps. Make sure you have a wifi network setup before testing Youtube. Read through Youtube, Wi-fi threads here.

    c. If you are concerned about 'baseband' read this forum more throughly before tinkering. IMHO Newbies you don't really need to mess around with baseband for now, you can tackle it later if you absolutely need Google Locate working.

This is a relatively harmless and easy hack as far as hacks go and is reversible. So don't get too concerned. Whatever happens you can resolve and solve it. There may be some issues and the good news is there are solutions for those too.

Raul, can you explain 2 things to me. You said connect to Itunes, Do we need to bring the iphone in DFU mode and then run ziphone? Itunes needs to be closed out from the task manager?

You need to run ziphone in recovery mode.

DFU mode is for restoring to 113, 113 00b doesn't need all this.

Just run ziphone -a -u -j with the iphone on 'slide for emergency' screen. It will work. If you don't get the screen slide for emergency screen for some reason don't worry because running ziphone -a -u -j will put the phone into recovery mode.

Regarding iTunes and iTunes helper I was on IRC when Zibri said he doesn't bother shutting down iTunes and it doesn't matter so I would take his word for it.

Just goes to show how much misinformation there is for newbies and nobody has bothered to put together a comprehensive guide, every time newbies post questions, its read this read that without realising that most guides are conflicting, specifically targeting pre 113 phones, outdated for instance iclarified still asks to install appsupport when that is not necessary for 113 phones unless you run into problems.

It follows newbies with brand new 113 phones will be the ones with most questions but this whole forum will only confuse them. Not all of us have been doing this since 102, newbies have just bought $500 dollar phones and will naturally be circumspect, and not giving clear information only leads to tons of irrelevant forum posts and noise and makes it difficult for everyone to use this site. Most of the issues you read here are a remnant of pre 113 unlocked phones.
