i was installing some apps via the installer and one required a reboot, the app in question is listed as 1.1.3 compatible so i figured there could be no harm... but instead of rebooting back to my springboard, i found myself in recovery mode. inDependence was easily able to kick it out of recovery but that really isn't the point... i found myself w/out a phone for a good part of the day since I DON'T CARRY A LAPTOP AROUND JUST TO KICK MY PHONE OUT OF RECOVERY MODE! i mean, that is a pretty serious bug if it is widespread, i did a clean reinstall this evening and did a regular hard reset just to see what would happen upon reboot... sure enough, back into recovery mode.

this seems really bad if you want to rely on your phone when out and about, and don't want to be saddled w/ 5+ lbs of hardware just to reboot a phone... is this not really a widespread issue, are all iphones updated via the official dev JB exhibiting this behavior or only some? i am sitting at yet another clean 1.1.2 install right now and wondering whether i should try the earlier 'Nate' JB instead this time, any input as to which direction to go here friends..?

independence 1.3.1 on Intel Mac, kicks me back out of recovery every time... although packing up my Mac Pro tower to tote along w/ me in case my phone needs to be reset isn't the most convenient of setups i must admit..

what is interesting to me is that i can restart the iphone with "reboot" from a terminal and it works fine, but if i restart by holding down power and home it goes into recovery... i have done all the other fixes, and haven't had this 1.1.3 offical jailbroken unit actually crash on its own, but do want the ability to do so if need arises.

anyway, wondering if the home+power reboot is a lower level reboot than the soft reboot from using the reboot command from a terminal.

    Default Independence 1.3.1 as solution

Dear all, I have been suffered by the same problem for these few days. I always recovered iphone from the recovery mode by typing command with iPHUC on Windows ("cmd setenv auto-boot true...." I even memorized them).

Today, based on the information in this forum (or that in ModMyiphone?), I launched independence ver.1.3.1 on Macintosh to kick out iPhone from the recovery mode. It worked and it even worked for a permanent solution. Since then, iPhone always reboot normally without entering the recovery mode.

OK...here's the deal. I had this reboot problem after the JB and I've managed to fix it. First, I am a legit AT&T customer. I wanted to update the baseband to get natively functioning locate feature in maps, etc.

    SO...I followed this guide:
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show....1.3+jailbreak

But with a few differences. The guide is written for Nate's method. I was going to use the dev teams method and couldn't get it to work without the constant reboot issue!

Here's what worked for me...there may be steps you can skip...but this is what I did and it worked.

Once you finish step 10 (just finished jailbreaking 1.1.2), download BSD Subsystem 2.0.

Do not install SSH or anything else...or update installer! Keep the version of installer that gets added in the 1.1.2 JB.

Exit installer. Go back into installer and install the "Official 1.1.3 Upgrader" Version 1.1.3-2. I think it's in installer already...no need to add sources. If it doesn't show up under the recent or system tabs, add community resources and it'll be there. Once you install, it'll put an icon on your home screen. Make sure you change auto lock to never, then tap the icon, DO NOT SELECT HACKTIVATE, and let it do it's thing. It'll take a long time!

At the end it says "attempting to reboot". My install never did...it hung for about 10 minutes, then I manually rebooted and all was well.

After rebooting I think I was fully activated...or maybe I connected to itunes and it activated right away. Either way, everything was good. Installer was automatically updated. I installed BSD Subsystem 2.0 again, because it was gone after the upgrade. Everything works fine, no reboot or other issues. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or problems!

Good luck, and enjoy. Props to everyone who made this stuff work.
