[1.1.3] Is my phone finally really Bricked?
Hi
I have a phone with a damaged 1.1.3 baseband which should have been fixed by the Ziphone release yesterday.
Unfortunately I think when I ran Ziphone the power was low on the phone and what ever ziphone -u does was cut short as after about 30 seconds I heard the phone disconnect from the USB...
Now the phone will not start, when I hold the power button it just goes to a white apple logo and stops, it never connects to USB so I can't attempt to repair it.
I have tried flattening the battery and then recharging - no joy.
Does anyone know just what ziphone -u does? I would not have thought it would write to the bootloader, but with the Geohot release that does just that I have a nasty feeling that Ziphone was writing to the bootloader, failed, and now I have a unrepairable phone.
Open to ideas....

Don't blame the software - Blame yourself - You didn't check that you were fully charged and plugged into the USB dock - Let this be a warning to others.

A) Read my post, I didn't blame the software, it hardly comes with a warranty
B) That flashing the phone with a 3rd party app can kill a phone if the power is low isn't general knowledge - after all as long as the bootloader is not touched the phone would be recoverable - and I have seen nothing that says that Ziphone alters the bootloader. But I guess it does.

Have you tried not just turning it on but putting it in restore mode or dfu restore mode?

Holding down the home/power button on start is just bringing up the white apple and going no further.

Well, yes actually, embedded systems often have a hardware preloader which then kicks off the bootloader - usually they just init hardware but there is no reason why Apples couldn't init the screen then kick the Apple logo into the screen buffer.
If you think you have a solution that I could find by reading, then I'd love to hear it - being insulting just demonstrates your own ignorance
Holding down the power button just gives me a Apple logo and freezes, and holding down the power and home does the same.

Try either restore mode:
Power off the phone, hold home while placing the phone in the dock (which should be plugged to the computer). Screen should change to the itunes/cable logo.
or DFU:
Hold power+home for about 10 secs. release power but KEEP holding Home for another 10 secs. The screen should remain blank. If it doesn't, try again.
Once the phone is in one of those two modes, iTunes should see it in recovery mode and let you do a restore to the firmware of your choice (1.1.3, i assume...)

of course I am ignorant - I haven't actually seen you doing anything but pushing buttons, charging batteries and running the ziphone executable 8) there are plenty of instruments listed on this forum - you haven't tried anyone yet... I don't even see you trying restoring your phone with itunes or checking if you can get your phone into DFU mode 8)

I am in a same situation..and I try all the trick on this (and others ..) forum but..
My history:
1)I am (was..) on 4.6/1.1.2 OTB
2)I downgraded to 1.1.1 and JB, everything fine but unlock (was too early)
3)When I saw the 4.6 geo unlock I ran (Too fast ) to soft upgrade (forgetting that I am not on 1.1.2 anymore..) and I finish with a 1.1.3 unlocked,BUT without Installer app on it.
4)So... I just went to Itunes to downgrade at 1.1.1 and begin from scratch... but the phone hangs! It cant restore 1.1.1 (itunes error) neither 1.1.2 or 1.1.3! Also try with Ibrick but green screen (need itunes restore)
5)I give a try to ZipPhone, Iphuc and almost everythigh I found on the forum without success.
Now I have an Iphone in recovery mode and I dont know how to restore ANY firmware/software on it..
Some more experienced iphoner can give me an advice to recover my "brick".. I will be grateful thanks in advance!

It cant restore 1.1.1 (itunes error)
what error? have you searched the forum for that particular error? there are plenty of them and each is covered, 1015, 1012, 1604, 6, 1 etc.
why do you downgrade to 1.1.1, if ziphone can work for 1.1.3 as well?
Do you know the fact that when you downgrade to 1.1.1 you have to do it twice, first time with a green screen, another with red?
I would put the phone into DFU ( read the forums ), restore to 1.1.3 with iTunes and then put the phone into recovery, run ziphone -a -j, check if it works and run ziphone -u.
