O2 UK iPhone Tarrif
1.1.4 Firmware Jailbroken / Unlocked
Quote from http://zibree.blogspot.com/2008/01/about-jailbreak.html
The reason we are delaying the release of the jailbreak is that we don't want (you know who) to know how we did it.We can't and we won't release a full decrypted image of 113 because that would constitute a copyright infringement and we DO NOT support piracy.
So, concentrate on the 1.1.3 ramdisks. Get them by hardware, bruteforcing or whatever method you come up with.
We'd like to keep the vulnerability open so that whatever the current version is at the time the SDK is released will be breakable.
I hope you understand.
I'm spanish to Triskel
Well I have 3 iPhones waiting for an unlock since 10 December and now the Devteam just decide on their own to hold 1 month more, If I knew this I wouldn't donate them coz I thought they just needed the 1.1.3 firmware. Now they need the SDK and who knows what will be needed when the SDK is released. So with all respects I'm not really confidence and all is just because they don't tell anything. We don't know for sure why the don't release the jailbreak. They don't keep us informed and nobody ask the vast mayority if we would like bread for today and hungry for tomorrow (spanish idioms).
So I think I way to hell with Geo's method and brick my iphone.
can't say I know much about jailbreaking or Unix but in keeping with the 'ideas' origins of this here are my thoughts based on what I have read :
1 - it seems the whole root partition is erased so nothing survives although preferences are retained (are they copied back ?) - can previous or new prefs files be modified before upgrade to help
2 - the file listing has an 'installer' - is this from the 1.1.3 ? is so can it be accessed by having previously installed a dummy version & apptap under 1.1.2 before upgrading
3 - on a similar theme to 2 - is there a shell inc in 1.1.3 which could be accessed in a similar manner
3 - know the media partition is non exec - can another partion be added which is
4 - how are email atatchements handled - can we get files onto the phone via this (as per windows vunerability)
... on the other hand I may be talking rubbish & so will keep any other thoughts to myself
Excellent news Piranha! I too am not happy with this "service". Rather than request a refund though I'd like my donation to go to an anti-cancer charity. How do we organize this?
Edit: My initial reading of Piranha's post was:
And had assumed he claimed to be a member of the "dev" team.Ask for refund if you're not happy with our service.

You mean to ask the Dev Team to refund the donation? You know what a donation is, don't you?
But hell, is supose to feel happy when you do a donation and you know what I feel as sure as a lot of people feel here, dissapointed.
Of course I hope someone else releases the jailbreak. What if Apple decides to release the SDK on 21 of march? I hope Dev Team has made a tough decision with this because it is going to make the snowball really huge and even more if Apple delays the SDK.
