how can we get this to not work after a restart/reboot or changing sims?
any way we can run this as a script at startup?

na, i didn't do the navigon trick. after i jailbroken 1.1.3, i immediately tested everything (other than the preview movies thing). i tested the google maps triangulation first and it located me dead on and quickly too. all my ringtones and sounds works as well. i'm pretty sure there were at least 5 others on this forum that reported it worked for them as well.
i have two guesses:
1. it might have to do with your locations. i live in nyc (maybe there are more celltowers and wifi beacons here? i don't know.)
2. it might work if you do their jailbreak directly from jailbroken 1.1.2 fw, not anything below that.

in other words, i just don't see the point in using the newest baseband if it requires you to run the script every time. it's just not practical.
dev team is great. they will for sure come up with great way to unlock our phones.
There is risk of bricking your phone by downgrading baseband isnt it.

lol. there's risk every time you mod your phone. =x and plus it's not like you're opening up your phone like downgrading your bootloader with the hw unlock (which is what i need to do btw)

does your google maps locate me feature work? if it works, it confirms that updating directly from 1.1.2 fixes everything that's not working.

beware.
beware? lol. the google maps 'fix' you're talking about wasn't accurate enough for me (and it wasn't a true fix). i personally wasn't going to do this because of the script issue, however i then realised i never turn my phone off and i rarely swap sims. a script that will run from the iphone home screen that takes seconds to re-enable the sim is in progress thanks to a wonderful contributor to the community, kayokid.
and if a better solution comes along from whoever then i will certainly go with that one.

lol i didn't need a fix. i never provided a fix. i still don't understand why it doesn't work for you guys. if you read through all the posts in the sticky, you will find people who have reported that everything was working for them and required no fix. i'll look them up later i guess. too lazy to do it right now.
i'm sure someone will find one sooner or later. if a fix is found, no more of this script!
