I tested on my 1.1.3 and it works without affecting the EDGE connectivity.

As it's in German, here are the (easy) steps:

add http://www.sendowski.de/iphone to installer repositories.

go to Tweaks (1.1.3) and install "ForwardMSGfix 1.1.3"

Reboot your iPhone

Worked fine for me

This "ForwardMSGfix 1.1.3" version works on 1.1.4 iPhone OS version too
