.......new apps and put them on installer? Why go through the trouble of updating. Is this even possible?

I did notice that some of the 1.1.2 apps were available for download through installer.

the thing is u need to jailbreak the 1.1.3 to access the new apps. Or maybe we can just extract them from the ispw but i don't know about that

the point is that there might be some in-depth changes that cant be installed as apps that easily. For example the modified summerboard with icon dragging is very likely deepgoing. The google maps or sms app shouldnt be very deep but could also benefit from some changes in the baseband.

but first of all we need a jailbreak and hopefully will get it soon!

I don't think the apps have access to the very low level.

Apps don't need to have access to low levels, low level changes can be somewhere in the framework. And if apps need new framework functions and iPhone applications have static linking like other platforms do, that might cause trouble. Apps statically importing functions usually just don't run when these functions are not exported by the corresponding libraries, and I doubt Apple would intentionally just dynamically import them to allow the apps to run on 1.1.2, quite the contrary

of course the fact remains the .dmg files are all encrypted.

The .ipsw file is just a zip....if u change the extension to .zip and extract you will get 3 .dmg files and some other .img files

the problem is, the .dmg files are encrypted so there's no way to extract the apps

You would need someone with a jailbroken 1.1.3.....or a legit 1.1.3 but with some form of complete disk mode such as SSH again in order to get the files off.

Previous files could be decrypted, that is one of the steps usually done when setting up the toolchain for the compiler.

No idea if this works with 1.1.3 as well, keys for up to 1.1.2 are listed there.
