Usually after restoring a dialog pops up then asking if you want to restore data "from a backup". The other option would be to "setup as a new iPhone". Did you choose the backup option? In this case you might have get back a lot of preference files from old installation. I dont know what software and stuff you had installed at 1.1.2/1.1.4.
If you used the "backup2 option I would give it one more try and "setup as a new iPhone". You can use iTunes after that to sync your iPhone and get Music, Addresses etc back.

This is jind of my last idea for now...

    hope that helps

I chose setup as new iPhone 'coz I didn't want any of the older files around fearing that it might messed up the phone. A little update, my phone is now on 1.1.4 and have been without problems for more than a day now .... BUT without wifi. I found out that the problem was caused by the wifi. So I switched off the wifi. I don't understand how this could be a wifi problem? Shouldn't a full DFU restore fix any wifi problems in the firmware? Now I'm kinda scared to turn on my wifi fearing that I have to go through the whole process again ....

yeah i can switch it off and on, and when I hook myself into a wifi spot and leave the phone to go to sleep for about 10-15 minutes or so ... and then waking it up, I'll be frozen at the slider screen.

The phone hasn't been dead yet these 2 days or so ... though ... I haven't switched on my wifi too Maybe I'll do that this weekend, so it'll give me ample time to fix the phone should it freeze again.

reviving an old post ... since I don't think there's a reason to start a new topic.

I've been using the phone without wifi for these 2 weeks now. It works fine. However, the thought of not using my wifi is starting to eat into me, so I switched it on .... and it froze while searching for a hotspot. The only thing that I could do is to press the power + home button to reboot. Now the funny thing is, it doesn't go to the slider screen but goes straight to the springboard and stuck at the 'Searching...' for GSM signal. Did a few times and it's the same thing. So I had to put the phone into recovery mode using Liberty and then kick it out of recovery mood. Then it works, found my GSM network AND my wifi hotspot. I could go online and all ... but had to switch the wifi off. And when I do switch the wifi back on again, it's the whole process all over again lol ... hey wait ... this isn't funny. I'm on 1.1.4 now btw.

I could probably wait for the new firmware on the 11th, maybe that could fix it. Any suggestions?

I wish I could leave it on, but that's what causing the problem too. The moment I step to a wifi infested area, the phone will freeze while looking for a network, hence I switch it off.
