And if you can't go "back" to 1.0.2 (my phone is 1.1.2 otb > week 48 ) ???
I understand that basically it is possible to bring back the bb/ bl or whatever is missing....but all of the methods I've found require your phone to be activated and it seems like you must have 1.0.2 to do it (in case ziphone won't work , and it doesn't...).

    hmm?

thanks anyway for all the links... got a lil. bit more information, maybe will be useful in the future

    Red face Bad news fellas!

    Update:

Alright guys! No good news yet. Infact its a bit worse now. We are stuck with a peculiar problem that has got no tutorials or readymade solution as of now.

This is what I did in the last 24 hours with my brick

I took out the ziphone code and started modifying it so that we could put in some way to virginize the phone back. Since we have tried all the options of ziphone under every firmware possible (except 1.0.2), I came to a conclusion that the seczone is fu**ed up coz thats the only area the ziphone doesnt modify.

So I figured out a way to put in the following to the ziphone so that it will execute it on boot with any switch.

    iEraser
bbupdater with eef and fls files
    iUnlock with fls and eliteloader.bin
bbupdater with eef and fls files again
bbupdater with -v option to check the baseband status

Also I inserted lot of time gap between each line so that I can see the verbose output on the screen. I tried it with all possible versions of files in the world. But the errors were same!!! (the positive side of looking at it is that we have zeroed in on the source of the problem )

    These were the results

    iEraser
    No problem

bbupdater with eef and fls files
Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image

    iUnlock
secpac was getting written at a very fast pace[10..20...100% ran off in like seconds] (I have a strong doubt on this)

bbupdater with eef and fls files
Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image

    bbupdater -v
Resetting target... pinging the baseband... baseband unresponsive to pinging

I repeat, I tried this with all the firmwares and all the corresponding eep, fls, secpac files in all versions of iTunes (7.3 to 7.6) on both windows and mac. (Well I didnt do anything else in the past 24 hours but for a nap of 3 hours)

So as of now I feel that we have hit something that looks like apple has intentionally designed to make a permanent brick out of our mistakes. There is a hardware way of swapping the comm board with a working phone and fixing it up and swapping it again which I cant test as of now since my other iphone's digitizer is dead.

But im not going to stop trying. Currently working on putting the entire virginizer pack instead of just the above mentioned commands. Also going to try out with Downbase and iPhuc so that we can check if it would work in the serial mode (non recovery mode like ziphone) (wish zibri was better with the afc2. but george zjlotto's tutorials were a great boon).

    Any other inputs?

    -Sara

I may be able to help you. PM me the way that you mounted zibri.dat, because the way that I have done it makes ZiPhone 2.0 and below spit out a read error, and 2.1+ say wrong ZiPhone version (Because of the signature check)

Here is the way that I mounted it:
    Code:
    dd if=zibri.dat of=zibri_ramdisk.dmg bs=512 skip=26128
And here is the way I unmounted it:
    Code:
    dd if=zibri_ramdisk.dmg of=zibri.dat bs=512 seek=26128
Did I do something wrong here?

    Hi,

Though I used mac to extract and repack the images, you can try the same commands on linux too.

    split -b 13377536 zibri.dat

That will give you 3 files named xaa, xab & xac. In which xab & xac are the ramdisk.dmg. So...

    cat xab xac > zibri_ramdisk.dmg

After you mount it and do the necessary changes, repack it with

    cat xaa zibri_ramdisk.dmg > zibri.dat

I agree with you on the sig check on the 2.1 & 2.2 versions. Thats why I stick on to 2.0.

Please explain more on how you can help me.

    -Sara

    Default Error 1611 when Restoring

Does everybody here also get error 1611 when trying to restore?

I've tried restoring normally and using DFU, through firmware versions 1.1.1, 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 and got that error also.

    Sara,

Can you modify an image of Ziphone to be the one that you'd like to write?
