Unhappy 1.1.3 (1.0.2 OTB) NO SERVICE ISSUE (try everything and I cant get signal)

    Is there a solution?

I spent 10 hours a day for 1 one week trying to fix this. I feel frustrated

    This is the short story:

    * 1.0.2 OTB unlocked with anysim
    * all went fine for about 4 months. then I got no service
    * I already try upgrading to 1.1.1, 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 with the same problem
    * Also I try mixing firmware and baseband. no luck

Now I have a 1.1.3 firmaware with the latest baseband (04.03.13_g). I did:
1.1.3 via itunes, downgrade to 1.1.1, OktoPrep, 1.1.2, soft update 1.1.3 dev release.
I use geohot's IPSF style Unlock to unlock it.
I got a few times signal, but when I try to make a call, fails.
I even try locate me in google maps, THAT WORK! :S strange

Now I only get NO SERVICE or ..... in the signal indicator. I cannot get full signal like in the beginning.

    I run AT+XSIMSTATE=1

    output:

    +XSIM: 2

    +XLOCK: "PN",1,1

    Now the questions:

    * Is this means the unlock is there?
    * Can I assume that this is not a hardware problem? (I got signal 2 o 3 times and locate me works once)
    * Can I virginize my phone? Is this going to solve my problem? Which steps do I have make? (first revert geohot's unlock and then?)
    * Is this something to do with unlock attempts? I never virginize my phone
    * Can I try anything else to solve this?

    Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm not sure if this works, but heck, you might wanna give it a try...

It basically involves opening the iphone, so you might want to be careful, but it reported success for several people. I haven't tried it yet, myself, but probably will. I'm just trying to exhaust all possibilities first!

So, basically, you open up the iphone and use electric tape to isolate the phone's back cover from the circuit board inside. Supposedly, it shorts when the phone "warms-up" causing the NSC ("No Service Curse"). There's a whole topic on this at

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17154

give it a read and please, do report back your comments here!

    Good luck!

Yup! I know exactly what you mean. However, I'm on the verge of doing it (if I find the right tools - errr... the right tools substitutes...).

Whomever does it first will post results, deal?

Nah... Sorry, but I think you're wrong. I also been dealing with this since 1.1.1 and have tried many... psfff... MANY MANY ways and this is the only thing that's left (it making sense or not).

I too get signal from time to time, and if I turn the iphone off for a day or two, when back on it'll have service, but 4 to 6 hours later it dies (signal that is).

I'm only left to try the thing from page 10 of that thread with the "./bricktool" - which I have no idea how it works or what it does. Also, I haven't tried the signal.app described before, but I didn't use geohotz's IPSF method, so I think that only works for that.

    *sigh*

I'm gona look for some tools right away... We'll see what happens...
