    Smile [1.1.2] upgrading firmware doubts

hi all, currently i am on 1.1.2. jailbroken and using sim clone because last time about dec last year, there is not unlock solution yet, thus i am using sim clone. now whenever i on itunes, it will ask me for permission to update to ver 2.1. I am wondering if i were to upgrade to 2.1 firmware, can i still jailbreak it and use my sim clone?

Sure, you can. Also, there is software unlock for 2G iPhone. Just search the forum. Good luck

thanks duck900, is it using winpwn? i am confused by the following message found at the FAQ:

    Who should use this tool?

This is for those that are not planning to restore. Itís not clear what the activation state is after the process therefore, I only recommend this for those that have a contract carrier or an unlocked phone already. This is also perfect for those that pwned and did not install Cydia as it will result in Cydia being installed. If you are on a 2g and need to unlock, you can do so with bootneuter, but this will not activate for you. If you are on a stock device and using AT&T or a contract carrier, this is the perfect jailbreak for you. You will not lose your contacts or have to do any backups. Finally, if you are going to restore anyway, especially if you need to unlock a 2g, you may as well use winpwn or pwnagetool.

Try QuickPwn instead. At this point WinPwn doesn't supports 2.1 FW. If you're a windows user, use this guide:How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your 2.1 2G iPhone Using QuickPwn (Windows)
