[1.1.2] Which Unlock Method To Use?
Hey Guys,
So basically I have had an iPhone since mid-December 2007, which I activated and jailbroke (or is it jailbreaked?) soon after purchase. It is FW 1.1.2 OTB, BB 04.02.13 and BL 4.6. I should also note that I'm located in Australia and the iPhone was bought in the USA.
However I have yet to unlock my iPhone and have been waiting for a definitive and safe IPSF like unlock.
Now my other cell phone is almost dead and I am looking to unlock my iPhone, but am not sure which method to use. Would anyone be able to advise me whether it is better to use the IClarified unlock method or use Ziphone, or perhaps some other unlocking tool. I've been a bit hesitant to use Ziphone after reading Geohots comments about it on his blog...
I also wanted to ask whether you guys thought it was worth waiting until the SDK release and then unlocking it based on whether something new is released around that time. At the moment I am in no rush to upgrade to 1.1.3 until the BB is properly hacked, as there seem to be few benefits and I really don't want any issues.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Cheers,
Syper

iClarified unlock method is based on ziphone, which is based on Geohotz's unlock method.
Many people have successfully unlocked using ziphone. Which comments are you refering to on Geohot's blog?
I also have a 1.1.2 otb and 4.6 bl phone and unlocked using ziphone without any problems. As far as being easy to follow it won't get any better.
I don't see any reason why you should wait until SDK is released as we still don't know if a new baseband will be released. And even if it is released with something new it probably won't effect you.
People around here seem to think it's a bad idea to downgrad the bootloader back to 3.9 as you may not be able to upgrade it back. So you will have to settle with 04.02.13.

Yeah, what comments on geohots blog are you referring too?
Ziphone uses geohots unlock method.
Just do a RESTORE to 1.1.3, and run ziphone -a -j -u
(dont use bootloader downgrade). Yes your baseband will be 04.02 but the only difference is that locate me doesnt work directly. This can be solved by running the third party software navizon or locate me once every reboot so not such a big deal.
Just go ahead, ziphone works perfectly fine. It has never been so simple to jailbreak/activate/unlock in the history of iphone

I was referring to some comments I saw somewhere referring to Ziphone being illegal and breaking copyright etc not too sure about that though.
So you guys are saying that it is better to use Ziphone to unlock rather then the iClarified installer source or iphone.unlock.no?
Also if I unlock my iphone now and a proper BB hack for 04.03.13 is released, will I be able to safely update to that?

I'm not going to pay $50 to you to unlock my phone using a method developed by someone else and freely available on the web.
Nice try though, better luck suckering someone next time.
