1.1.2- signal strength and battery life
So, 1.1.2 is running OK for me, with a couple of exceptions:
- Signal strength. Does not appear as robust as before, and more worryingly when I get a "no network" signal, the meter does not recover out of this mode even when I am able to place a call. I have to engage and disengage the airplane mode to "see" a signal again. Could this be down to the lockdownd I'm using (the elite team one... does anyone have a good 1.1.2 alternative?)
- Battery life. Basically about 50% what I got with 1.1.1. I'm not a great truster of the app which gets installed with the oktoprep/touchfree jaibreak. Does anyone know how to remove this (and SSH) as it does not appear in the apps folder?
Thanks all, great forum

That is really strange! I didn't notice any problems with my signal, actually I think EDGE works faster/better. I am also getting much better battery life in v.1.1.2. You really don't want/need to remove Open SSH. Just use SSH.app and turn it OFF.

Thanks for the reply- which lockdownd are you using?
Hopefully the signal strength thing was just a glitch, but it was kind of weird making a call when the indicator said "no network"....

I was using Experimental lockdownd first but then I activated with iAsign and switched back to original.

Thanks. I tried iAsign but could not make it work. I'll wait to see if a better lockdownd appears...

I'll give it a go. Question though- does lockdownd actually control anything except whether the phone is activated/active signal. Just wondering if I do get the iassign method to work whether there's any expectation that there would be any difference vs an apparently working patched lockdownd. My understanding is reaching its limits a bit here!
Thanks for all your help!
EDIT: I'll answer my own question. There is no appreciable functional diffference between iasign activation and the patched 1.1.2 lockdownd (except youtube gets hosed with iasign, easily fixed) that I've been able to find. My signal strength indicator is still behaving weirdly. As soon as there's an automated 1.1.2 jb and activation, I'll do a restore which I suspect will fix this.
Another improvement in 1.1.2- movies encoded with reasonably high bitrates at 480 x 320 now play much more smoothly than on 1.1.1. Of course VM notifications work, and finally my home burglar alarm can send me non-numeric texts when something is amiss. I'm so easily pleased :p

the newest version of the jailbreak GUI software did everything for me and I didn't need to patch the lockdownd file. On TMobile USA.
