Wow me first post, after being around these forums for months now... I have an AnySim 1.1.1, and it's great, so got another which is 1.1.2 and like a lot of people here, patiently awaiting (and reading the amusing comments, flames, and n00b bashing like any forum). I am amazed at the number of visitors to this forum, and respect most of them.

Anyways. I too am frustrated with the lack of 1.1.2 SW unlock, on the verge of doing the HW one or looking for an XSim in the UK (would rather get one thats upgradable if/when I go 1.1.3, etc). I am awaiting patiently, and would hope that it comes tomorrow.

What I really wanted to say was, whilst it's all well and good saying "buy an *sim, or do the HW unlock if you feel comfortable", I think whats most frustrating, is that we don't know what the dev team are doing. Now I appreciate these guys are busy and I don't feel we need constant questionings (keep em away from the forums, and busy doing their magic!), but an update through XianLi once a week would be great... What are they working on?! It's all rumours and speculation. Man Zibri posts more stuff thats intriguing on his blog, but don't get me started on him...

I think what would be fair to the community is just saying the truth, "We're stuck on the 1.1.2 SW unlock and don't see it coming, and we're working on JB 1.1.3, etc", or ANYTHING thats truthful. I feel you DO owe it to the community for an update (once a week or when a breakthrough is made). We've had NOTHING official mentioned about the SW unlock since Geo Hot stated it's more of less impossible, we've had some JB news. Your traffic is very high on this site, you have a lot of respect, which IMO is dropping. You've had donations (I know it's without guarantee), but please please please someone just put up a statement stating what you are doing. It will stop a lot of rumours/speculation, etc.

Not bad for a first post. I think 99% of the 'whining' would stop if we just knew what the devs are working on and how much difficulty they are having.

for my point of view the iphone is (for me as an Austrian) a more or less cheap alternativ to an ipod touch with the oppotunity for a phone.
in Austria the costs of an a ipod-touch is about: 280€ (about 420$) and furthermore here are no iphones sold, there is not even a release day.

however: of course i am also pissed of waiting, i think i will grab a *sim solution soon,...and than the new s/w unlock will be released 5mins after i cut my corporate-sim, and THAN i am really screwed.

As of January 16, 2008 it is NOT YET POSSIBLE to unlock Out-of-box 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 iPhones from USA or Europe yet.
Apple released firmware 1.1.3 on January 15 and the dev team is working on it right now. Good news: 1.1.3 brings a baseband update, that will once again allow us access to the baseband's memory (this means that there will be a software unlock).Please don't bother everyone by asking about this in the forums. As soon there are any news, we will let you know.

Let's wait for a SW unlock. Again, we all bought the IPhone knowing that it was locked.....you could bought an LG Prada instead!!! !!!!

Yeh I agree with you man. If we could at least be told thet they ARE NOT working on the SW unlock then at least it gives us noobs a chance to grab our nuts and figure out whether its worth opening our phones for the H/W unlock or spending even more money on a *Sim..... Guessing and hoping sucks....

I think there is no sw unlock yet. I know that i posted earlier that there was. an i am sorry to inform that it is probably just a cheap trik from the china market - a Xsim soldered to the motherboard.

the phone came form china - unlocked - baseband 04.02.13G (from 1.1.2 otb), bootloader 4.6 ( new- 112 OTB), and sw 1.1.1 (probably downgraded from 112).

They probably did the 111 downgrade to fool the customer in thinking that he is one of the lucky one to own a brand new at&t sw unlocked iphone - 1.1.1. with 3.9 bootloader.

SAD, but true..... i am sorry for the bad info.

probably a soldered *sim on the mainboard like most chinese iPhones
