Discuss [1.1.2 OTB][Unlocking] - A Brief Message at the iPhone "2G" (Rev. 1) - Hackint0sh.org; Originally Posted by don527

Nobody said geohot is a stupid kid but his ethics are questionable. And it serves no purpose to just praise the people involved after publishing information without group consensus. Praising a few people is easy and possibly to distract the likes of you because he knows that he has already grabbed the headline anyway. Just a couple of days ago, ta_mobile and the likes were refusing to share the HW unlock method and then 2 days later you found it on Geohot's blog. I sincerely hope that the release of the HW unlock guidelines were endorsed by ta_mobile and friends.

BTW... he didnt get the secpack from dev/elite... it was due to ta_mobile and the $2400 in iphones that got him the secpack so it's his choice to do whatever he wanted with the info! what if it was a russian team or the chinese that hw unlocked it and released it... dev team gonna be calling them lamers too and accuse them of recklessly giving a loaded weapon to a bunch of kids to brick their phones? gimme a break. if anything, ta_mobile probably has a say to what to do with the info and not zibri.
Again get your fact straight. Zibri did not post on Geohot's blog, he posted the message on his own blog. Hell, the secpack was not even originally retrieved by Zibri, it was by Dinopio with the help from Gray if you do your research carefully.
but it's zibri that goes on georges site and posts "You are a big lamer as always." and start bragging about having secpack forever and probably laughed at ta_mobile when he was asking for the secpack and heard he spend 6 iphones to get what he already had and could have given with a simple keystroke.
from our view... who has less than amicable ethics?
Yes, geohot could have gotten the secpack with a simple keystroke has it not been his mischiefs earlier. And it is fair to say that the lost of the community is actually indirectly caused by Geohot because of his ethics. He could have put his talent to a better use instead of focusing on hogging the limelight. Oh well, he is a kid after all, can't ask too much.
he posted on georges blog
regardless of whether he posted on his site a couple hours before or after doesnt matter. childish on his part.
and i wasnt saying that they could have given the secpack to geohot... saying they could have given it to ta_mobile when he kept asking for it but they wanted to keep it to themselves. ta_mobile had to do it himself and shared it with geohot and he got it unlocked and because ta paid for the secpack, zibri shouldnt even rain on his parade... if he unlocked it and posted it and everyone is glad he did it, then he deserves the spotlight... just like they are trying to do with the jailbreak annoucement.
why are you questioning geos ethics... he is NOT part of the group. so he did NOT need group concensus. he got the secpack from ta_mobile and unlocked and can do whatever he wanted with it... with or without devteams blessing. devteam is just mad cause it geohot that got the unlock and not the chinese or russians or anyone else.

wow. Who needs tv. All this drama is entertaining enough.
/me grabs his popcorn
All bs aside, I wish everyone could settle their differences and start working as a universal team rather than individual teams.
Quit the blame game. Just get back to the goal.
The battle of nerds continues.... lol
Who cares who comes up with it?? I just want software unlock!
No disrespect to you bright minds working on it, i'd be SOL if it wasn't for your hardwork and dedication.
But seriously, all other people really need to stop hounding these guys "When's the software unlock coming?? when?? WHEN!!? RELAX! It'll be there when its there.

Hence the Elite was formed, and others went over. Now, we have a sudden join of forces?.?. It was said on the irc yesterday that it was a joint effort by the dev, and elite teams for the 1.1.3 JB, and anyone who asked about it would be kicked from the channel. However, if you go to the elites blog/forum, Zibri (yesterday at least) was making no mention to the devs efforts in the 1.1.3 jb, he simply stated the Elite Devs did it, and it was in the process of being cleaned up.
I was witness to these exchanges back last year, on the irc channels; and I will not speculate to their merit, as I have no right to do so. However, I am personally befuddled with the sudden team effort, and quite frankly childish postings by Zibri yesterday, without any backing from the devs. I find (personally of course) that GeoHot's successes outweigh those of Zibri's as do his skills proven over and over by his proof and outcomes.
My respect is to all that provide in these efforts. I cannot contribute as a dev, but I have and will in other ways.
On a last note; and I want to be clear on my position here; I can understand the reason for the holding out on the 1.1.3 jb. However, this goes against every belief and reason this channel was even created in the first place.
If we are a Community, and we are supporting the cause (the devs) and are looking for solutions (i.e. the jb) when it is accomplished (as history has shown in the past) then release it to the community. Since when did we change gears and whom made such a decision to hide from Apple? I find it hard to believe AT ALL that Zibri is making this call, I don't believe it.
In closing, hopefully this mess can be set straight and we can get back to the basics; opening the device for all to enjoy.

So, if I understand it correctly, elite/dev team will withhold jailbreak at least until Apple releases the SDK. That will happen in February. So even if they find a way to unlock we will have to wait until then. Great. Then wtf are we doing here?

Bringing Hackint0sh's server to its knees.
The wtf are we doing here?
Well, take a look at the trend in Alexa's index:

Anyway, Geohot did what he thought was correct: giving the methods to the public so everybody could get a way to HW unlock, and he is the "first" again (I don't believe he didn't think of this).
In the other hand, Dev Teams are on an itinerary to release things to the public and make them as durable as they can, GeoHot is out of the agenda and complicates thing for the fame as Dev Teams sees it.
Both are valid approaches and questionable attitudes toward the public, so why confront them.
The only child here is zibri, because he knows what GeoHot is doing is as valid as what he does, but cannot stand the popularity GeoHot gets. Leave him alone, he is out of both of your groups so he doesn't need to follow your codes.
And for the sake of everybody BE collaborative beyond egos.
