Discuss [1.1.2 OTB] Unlocked, but now all calls are dropping at the iPhone "2G" (Rev. 1) - Hackint0sh.org; i have the same "no service" problem as yours,
however mine occasionally make calls
i have the same "no service" problem as yours,
however mine occasionally make calls
i have a OTB 1.1.2 iphone, and did a hardware unlock
anysim was successful after downgrading the BB
but i get a very weak signal, and no service most of the time
what's intriguing that when i plug the iphone in, either with the power brick or usb
the signal reaches three bars, without the plug barely a bar, no service and calls drop alot
but what's also bizarre that the signal get much stronger when i leave the house.
however i have pretty good coverage where i live
but somehow the baseband seem to be messing up the signal strength
at first i thought it was a hardware problem, but my antenna is fine, and also did the insulation trick just in case
i have done so much research, but this just seem hopeless,
scratched iphone that could barely keep a signal
and i'm sick of restoring and updating everyday, i feel like a gypsy moving from town to town everyday, reinstalling softwares, then resyncing
would appreciate any help
Check the logs on the iPhone. You'll likely see that the baseband is crashing.
Of the 50 or so iPhones I've unlocked (all 1.1.1 and before) one exhibited the symptoms you state. AnySIM had reported that the unlock succeeded. I could see the bars cycling from full to none over a period of about 5 seconds. Downgrading to 1.0.2, virginizing, upgrading to 1.1.1, and unlocking with AnySIM 1.1 fixed the issue.
I would suggest doing what you did earlier. Test calling at 1.1.1. If that works virginize again. Then upgrade and unlock with 1.2.1u .
here is my story.
BL / BB / FW
4.6/4.2.13/1.1.2 OTB ->iphone store
A guy in China town (was visiting NY for business, no time to JB it myself)
4.6/4.1.13/1.1.1 iTouch for a few weeks
HW Unlock to downgrade the BB (destroyed one of my guitar picks in the process :p )
3.9/4.2.13/1.1.1 Touch and 'no service' phone
Fighting with restores and updates. Used Anysim1.2.1.u on the previous state and got a
3.9/4.2.13/1.1.2 iPhone complete
I see imom you were fighting on the last progress report with 4.1.13 and anySIM1.1... What I had was a 3.9/4.2.13/1.1.1 and I used the anySIM1.2.1.u on it before updating to 1.1.2. Try getting to this configuration and follow the rest of the steps accordingly.
If you follow the guide, after step 2 you should have
3.9/4.2.13/1.1.1.. In your progress report you say you had
3.9/4.1.13/1.1.1. This is the mistake.
The anysim1.2.1.u should be applied to the 3.9/4.2.13/1.1.1 state of your phone and then you should update.. But the update will see that you have already a 4.2.13 baseband, and will NOT touch it (otherwise it gets re-sim-locked), leaving you with a patched 4.2.13 and a correct 4.2.13-1.1.2 pair.. Hope this explains your problem and you can follow the guide to the end.

I virginized again. Back to 3.9 / 1.1.1 / 4.01.13
Ran anySIM, it reported success.
Still can't make any calls. I am getting no service in a strong reception area.
i had similar issues... on my H/W unlocked 1.1.2 phone
No service, no calls. very low respeption in other spots but no calls.
I did all the downgrading, viginizing, bricktool...
Then on my way home last night i found one place that i had 5 bars! pulled over made several call just fine...the sec i drove off no service.( i wasnt under a cell tower or even close)
So i re-open my phone and drove around...no luck.
I did notice a little damage/scrape to the wire(phone antenna) but no broken wires so...
I leaning to a hardware/antenna issue... I hoped it was software but... how did i get 5 bars in that one spot...
Went to spot I had 5 bars yesterday and had no service!!!
Something is screwed up!

Reason: update status
I fixed mine.
I got fed up went from 1.1.2 down to 1.1.1, jailbreak and activate, Baseband downgrade to 3.14 and then upgrade to 1.1.2. From there I re-downgraded to 1.1.1, oktoprep'd, ran AnySim 1.2.1u (Airplane mode and New Sim in). It reported Success. So the I upgraded back to 1.1.2. and here I am. Working and beere tings.
I heart my phone now. It was worth the work.
What was wrong with it?

I have reflashed my BB four times now, and tried different versions (not 3.14 yet) and doesn't seem to help. I suppose I could try 3.14 just to eliminate that possibility.
ok, I just downgraded BB to 3.14, confirmed it, then restored 1.1.1 and now I have BB 4.01 again.
Ran anySIM. It reported success.
For the first few seconds, I saw 4 bars of signal strength and thought this had made a difference. Then it dropped to no signal for 10 secs, and now it's sitting on 1 bar.
I REALLY don't think this is an aerial issue.
I have reflashed the BB many times, and nothing ever changes. All calls out generate a 'call ended' error before ring tone starts. All calls in to the phone result in a phone offline message.
Any other ideas?
