Your baseband has been updated to a newer version with restoring to 1.1.3
There is no way to unlock your phone functions for now.
Have fun using your new ipod touch fo now. For that go to 1.1.2 and jailbreak it.
    iPhone 1.1.2OTB BL4.6
    - H/W downgraded to BL3.9 then unlocked.
    - Now soft upgrade to 1.1.3, still jailbroken and unlocked.
    - Restored to 1.1.4 and unlocked using repo by iClarified.
Works like a charm, if you have questions: PM me!

I'm offering unlocks in Germany, PM me for info!
I can help personally or by remote, webcam is an advantage.

If you have 4.6 Bootloader, there is no method. Absolutely NONE!
If you have 3.9, you can downgrade your baseband. Refer to http://iphone.unlock.no for a guide on how to do that.

Ive done the same thing as you. Ive read up on it though on these forums and from what ive been told, we will have to wait for the next firmware (1.1.4). To check your bootloader, go to settings > general > about > modem firmware. If it says 04.03.13_G then you'll have to wait for 1.1.4

I have had the same problem, but I restored to 1.1.1 instead of 1.1.2.
The phone is not in DFU/restore mode, but I can't upgrade it because it needs a valid sim card in the phone!

Any tips on dealing with this?

Btw i dont get an incorrect sim but a no sim error.which makes me more believe that some part of the sim reading is damaged

your topic is called [1.1.2 OTB], why?
if you know it's 1.1.2 OTB you should know the bootloader - it's 4.6
if you don't know the bootloader - you can't say it is OTB
