When you have have 96 iPhones waiting to be unlocked is because you are in the unlocking industry.

So with the money you are charging for the unlocks go and get a good bulk price on Xsims!!

this is not sony ericcson or nokia... do you see the number of sw/fw updates it's done on the iphone since it's introduction? regardless of unlocks or not they would have released as many updates.

look at the ipods and itunes and see how many times they've updated itunes in the past?... so many times i got sick of seeing a pop up for a new itunes download and i didt have an apple ipod/iphone back then.

holding back exploits will not help because they will keep on updating sw and your hack will no longer be valid.

how many updates does sony or ericcison do in a phones lifecycle? may do an update 'maybe' once to fix bugs but after that they wont care... by mid year or next year their phone is obsolete and they have new models coming out. they do not give new features like apple with updates so you will be behind in that too.

apple really doesnt care about hacking like you think they do... they have their own development program going that have been months and years in planning. if their is an exploit released, they take some time to take care of it and go back their merry way. if you hold back on it, just gives them time to get back to their regular work and maybe advance their development and close out any holes along the way anyways.

the best thing to do is find the solution as fast as possible, release it, enjoy it until they lock it back up and start over again. that's all you can do.

Find exploits, keep them secret until LOTS of phones with the exploit is on the market (meaning, if exploit is found now, keep it secret for maybe up to a year), then release it (or release it if apple finds it themselves). That means every phone released in the past year can be unlocked.

That's how the unlocking business works (Especially true for Sony Ericsson and Nokia unlocking).

I think you misunderstand. Apple will always release updated, they never release an update just for security reasons. But the problem is that when they gets aware of the exploits, they fix it in the next update.

Hack WILL be valid if they don't find the exploit themselves. If they don't know that there is an exploit, they can't fix it right? At this point i doubt they spend much time looking for exploits themselves - so almost for sure, the only time an exploit gets fixed is after the exploit is published by hacking community.

Sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about here. Many phones have SW updates more often than iphone. Just counted 16 firmware releases for Nokia N73. I guess Sony ericsson releases in avarage about 5 updates for every phone.

I think Apple cares more about security than ANY other phone manufacturer. The reason is that they only sell phones locked so unlocking is a major problem for them (AT&T really). Other manufacturers have most of their phones unlocked.

didn't know about the number of updates on a nokia so you are right on that... just going by experience with couple of phones and wm5... but again, is that the norm for phones?

as far as apple not finding the exploit if it is released to the public... i don't see how they can't find it. they get a copy of the solution that's available to everyone once released and just break down the coding or method just like we do with theirs... it wont take them much effort.

People say it can be unlocked. I saw the direct tv hacking scene go belly up when nds put out a new smart card that was un breakable, that was 4 yrs ago and they still have not found a loop hole in the card to get in and open it up. This is a game and sometimes you win and sometimes you loose. We lost as far as the 1.1.2 otb goes (so far). The people I feel sorry for are the ones that live where you cant get iphones activated. They have spent money on a whim and now many are sitting with a 400$ conversation piece.
