I have just finished Updating to 1.1.3 through itunes,
one good news is that I inserted a non att sim into it and it did not say anything like incorrect sim, (which usually happened earlier),also bb updated to 4.3.13,now downgrading to 1.1.1

    See above quotes for evidences

We have some members reported upgraded to 1.1.3 leaves unlock intact, also downgrading leaves the unlock intact. A lot of opinions were formed.. without hardware evidences...

Which are all speculation. if you read on page 2 of this thread, two members reported that going to 1.1.3 via itunes did not result a relock. (which are evidences favoring that it'll survive the upgrade)

instead of saying that it will, relock....do you have evidences that it would?

Please don't muddy the waters. Read i_max2k2's later post saying that the phone was locked after this process was finished; also note that SamuraiPhone's first post states a software-only upgrade, not an iTunes upgrade. The evidence shows that patched baseband is still required.

[edit] Sorry if this feels like I'm being rude, but it's important to kill false information, otherwise it'll keep rearing its head for months.

i think yous may be mistaken in the fact that somehow you have the 1.1.3 baseband already, unlocked it, and the downgraded (wich doesnt modify the baseband at all) i get a lot of bricked phones where i just restore and the j/b and they are still unlocked.. itunes only modifies the bb if your upgrading to a newer version with a newer bb.

The fact is that when you unlock it using Geo's method, the process definitely downgrade your BB --> 4.02.13 already. After that if you do nothing that change the BB, your iPhone will end up at FW1.1.3 +BB4.02.13.
    After Geo's method, you may
    1) restore to 1.1.1 FW by iTune doesn't touch BB ==> Your BB is 4.02.13
    2) upgrade to 1.1.2 FW by iTune doesn't touch BB ==> Your BB is 4.02.13
    3) upgrade to 1.1.3 FW by Dev Soft Upgrade doesn't touch BB ==> Your BB is 4.02.13
    4) upgrade to 1.1.3 FW by iTune should upgrade BB to 4.03.13 too and the good old patched 4.02.13 should be overwritten, resulting in locked... shouldn't it?????

I also read the commend of Geo in this blog but I got definitely different meaning from people. The IPSF context he mentioned is in the different sentence from the story. It looked like he just mentioned it in comparison to the software unlock BL4.6 that... "... while Geo's software BL4.6 unlock work likes what he said, in contrast, IPSF method does bla bla bla... (which is different from his method)..." <-- that's what I got.

    Lest straighten things up

I have done this myself and this is the best info u'll get!

When ur unlocking ur 1.1.2/1.1.3 otb phones the phone is flashed with a bb of 1.1.2 ie 4.2.13 now it is patched for the unlock,
pls note that a modem software can only be worked upwards through iTunes, hence if you have a bb say 4.3.13, itunes would not touch the baseband at all whether ur restoring , but incase ur updating to say 1.1.4 which has a bb say 4.4.13, then yes it will erase the baseband to the new one!
Now the new bootloader 4.6's unlock is patching the baseband and hence if u restore to 1.1.3 or shift update to 1.1.3 the baseband will be erased since we are using a bb from 1.1.2 the unlock will be gone.

for the older bootloader 3.9 with a ipsf clone from geo, would remain no matter what you do,

from his blog I have a fair idea that a ipsf style unlock will be out for 4.6 soon!

I hope this clear things up!

ok when this was posted it didnt say it was for 1.1.2 now it says it.so thats why i posted here you can see my restore process on page 2 of this post. I forgot to mention that my bootloader is 3.9! So there are many posts in here ghat says the restore-update proof method its only for 3.9 and i can tell you for sure its the same one or another .if you restore to whatever version you loose the unlock.if any one experience other things please post what you did.steps please so we can get a conclusion.

I believe you will end up in iTunes Activation Screen
I believe you will not be able to get root access to the filesystem
I believe without root and shell access you will not be able to downgrade to patched 4.02.13_G
I believe you will finaly restore to 1.1.1 :-)
Maybe 1.1.1 will not be the MUST. You can use ziphone from zibri to do unlock for you.

I believe you will end up with 1.1.3, baseband 4.02.13. :-)

you MUST do the 1.1.3 upgrade via iClarified in installer!!! otherwise if you do it through iTunes you need to use ZiPhone!!!
