Default [1.1.2 OTB] Little question to you hardware unlockers

Are you guys really willing to risk your 400$ phone?.. screwing it up physically or even software wise?

iv read of people bending thier cases trying to pry the phone out, and i heard the case never looks the same again once the iphone has been opened?

and even then you can badly screw up your phone on the inside if your not careful, and u can screwup the software if you screw up a step..

imo, wouldent you rather spend 60$, and NOT risk your iphone?

soo many risks for one little thing, i think id much rather spend the 60$ for the sim method and never have to worry about screwing up or opening my phone?

and even lately iv seen some china3gpp sims for like 40$ even.. pretty darn cheap..id rather pay 40$ and have a nice unlock then try and risk my 400$ phone over 40$..

-what do you guys think?.. and i know the HARDWARE method is ment for hardcore people, but i see SOO many threads of normal people trying to do this, that just end up getitng themselves in a pot of hot water?.

Different strokes for different folks. I did my own unlock, learned a LOT during the process, had a good time, and felt an amazing sense of satisfaction after I finished it.
Best of all, I was able to write a tutorial to help others and when people use my tutorial to do their unlock, and it helps, I feel even better. IMO experience is outweighs the *Sim solution, and so does BL 3.9.
It's like saying "you could build your own race car, or pay someone to build it for you". Have you heard the saying "built, not bought" before?
IMO even if you ruin your $400 dollar phone, the amount of things you learned and the experience is still awesome, in the end, what would you rather have? Knowledge and a phone with a scratch on it (which I will conveniently call character), or your chinese knockoff "solution" which requires you to desecrate your sim card anyways.

yeah, thats what a freind of mine told me as well he said it would be "FUnner" doing the unlock by yourself..

hehe, valid point if thats your thing i guess.. id rather not take chances with the expensive piece of hardware..

    - though i say go for it if you wanna go experimental or wanna feel the fun :0

and the sim card isnt really ruined, u can still use the sim in a normal phone..nothing is lost from the sim, you only gotta cut a little corner off, and the sim goes inside the phone, im not going to be looking at it. though, cosmetic damage to the phone itself.. i WILL be looking at

Just think about this: with hw unlock you can downgrade your bootloader and feel safer for the future, cause it's easyier to play with 3.9 by now. I think this could be the reason behind so many people trying this way to freedom, but I can be wrong

Yep, my cup of tea as well, BL3.9 has no secrets anymore for dev_team ;-)
Thats why this hw solution was for me the challenge, I had fun but also painstaking horrible moments especially when scratching the printlead! The covers you can easilly replace by spare ones ... so I didnt care much about that.

I rather spent 60$ for a new back and antenna cover. Having BL 3.9 is worth all the risk.

If you know what you are doing the risk of messing up is very low, and hey, no risk no fun

Short question: Will you have to do the hw unlock again when u "accidentally" restore to 1.1.2? So u will have to restore to 1.1.1 and update to 1.1.2 to avoid getting the BL4.6 again right?

After HW unlock iPhone will have BL 3.9 so then you can even upgrade fw to 1.1.3 then dongrade to 1.1.1 and unlock. Or upgrade to 1.1.2. Anything.

first u cant get a sim solution for less than 80$. atleast i cant. in my country if i order it, shipping is 25$. in the one store here that has turbo sims and they just got them it is 150$! lets average that out to say 110.

now 110/400=27.5%. is there a 27.5% chance of ruining ur phone? i dont think so. unless ur dumb enough to upgrade to 1.1.3. also ive done all kinds of mistakes and got all possible errors and my end result was still success.

    also i have:
    a tremendous sense of acheivement.
    lots more knowledge.
    bragging rights.
300$ for unlocking 3 iphones of my freinds and of freinds of freinds.(so far)
