You have to hang with the process if you want to save it. I started with 1.1.2 bl 4.6, ran ienew, the phone locked up, rebooted, and I lost wi-fi. I then used the terminal app on the phone to complete the process and run iunew. Set a delay to give yourself some time to set the needles before it executes. In my case I set my phone on a glass desk and then used a mirror to watch the output on the screen so I was certain of what was happening.

After all that, it gave me the 1011 error when trying to restore to 1.1.1. In the end it finally allowed me to restore to 1.1.2 so I am currently at BL 3.9, baseband 4.02.13, and firmware 1.1.1. In short, I'm a happy camper!!

the nice part is that (unless you pulled the battery) you can have the iphone anywhere and its not tied down by a cable

I suspect my baseband has been erased, and iTunes cannot fix it.

I am going to try this tutorial to fix:

if we get a problem where it says "Did you erase the flash first?"
is it safe to restore 1.1.2 in attempt to fix the baseband or is it an SOL moment

So, if you ran ienew, lost wifi, and (stupidly) reset the iphone, you now have a phone without a baseband correct ?

iTunes will error out on "Restoring iPhone firmware", presumably because bbupdater cannot for some reason upload the baseband, no matter what firmware you are updating.

Does this mean we have to update to 1.1.3 ? I would rather not resort to that unless absolutely necessary.

Unless you are on 4.6bl, I dont see why you see 1.1.3 as such a "bad" deal?
It will fix the obvious problem you are having. GeoHot stated at the begining of the thread, if you were stupid enough not to listen to directions as "do not restart after ienew" you can simply just upgrade to 1.1.3 and fix that problem.
Heck its better then not having a solution at all, like most 0049 IMEI people were having in all the past versions.

We are on 4.6bl, as ienew crashed. Upgrading to 1.1.3 would be a bad idea. I am starting to doubt that this is something that can be repaired.
