[1.1.2 OTB] HW Unlock > Testpoint Works, but can't restore to any baseband
Hi again,
I've managed to successfully unlock an 1.1.2 OTB iPhone (not the one i recently bricked), almost. After connecting the testpoint and running 'iunew' successfully I have been unable to write any firmware version successfully so again I have a 'repair needed' phone. However I was now able to downgrade to 1.0.2, manually jailbreak and activate it and have copied all the tools needed to repeat the operation.
This time 'ienew' fails with 'Can't write', and 'iunew' sometimes stays at 'Spamming AT, waiting for response' and sometimes it spits 'Did you erase the flash first?'.
Whenever I try to run bbupdater (be it with -v or specifying a .fls and .eep file with -f and -e) it says 'Error: Failed to initialize comm layer: (is it open by another app?)'.
Just to note: I have indeed stopped the CommCenter, and all the related files needed to do the unlock have the correct permissions on them.
Regards and thanks for your time.

I believe it has been posted that you should just skip the bbupdater part and just restore.

hello everyone,
i've h/w unlocked over 50 iPhones now. my first h/w unlock went amuck(as a result of i.unlock.no having the wrong nor file in their initial Installer package release), but i was able to get 1.0.2 back onto the iPhone(with great difficulty, and many attempts/hours), and proceed with using iBrickr to copy over bsd, terminal, uctl, and all of the executable files(ienew, iunew, etc.) into usr/bin. i was able to execute those files fine, and restore the baseband accordingly. since that time, all of my h/w unlocks have been successful, and i made certain to always copy the .fls and .eep files into the usr/bin, so i could execute bbupdater -f *.fls -e *.eep command, and then execute bbupdater -v to verify everything worked, prior to rebooting/restoring.
yesterday i received an iPhone from a client, who had mucked it up, after attempting to do a downgrade himself. however, instead of installing the Installer package Bootloader Downgrade from i.unlock.no, he had instead installed Baseband Downgrader from i.unlock.no. after installing it, he realized he installed the wrong package, and have then attempted to exit Installer, but it still kept installing those package files... as well as executing them. as a result, he ran the incorrect package, and then rebooted his phone mid-install.
so, i figured i would be able to help him, by merely gettign the iPhone to restore to 1.0.2, and proceeding with the normal process. however, this unfortunately has not worked. i am able to restore to 1.0.2, and jailbreak it, and copy over the applications and ienew/iunew files, but i am unable to execute them. whenever i attempt to run ienew, it errors saying it cannot write file. of course, the commCenter.plist file has been unloaded, and all of the files in /usr/bin have been made executable(chmod 777 *, chmod +x 777, etc.), but it still will not work.
i have also copied each of the .fls and .eep files from each firmware version, as well as the secpack from each, running bbupdater -f *.fls -e *.eep, thinking that may help, but no dice. oddly enough, even though ienew and bbupdater fails, i can indeed run iunew, which runs properly, but obviously ends unsuccessful because ienew was not run before-hand.
terribly frustrating. i have made new directories throughout the system, copying the files to them, hoping they would execute accordingly, but no luck. so it is not a commCenter.plist unload problem, nor is it an executable problem. instead, it seems that ienew is trying to execute another file on the system somewhere that is not executable for some reason... so the question is; what file(s)?

Hi.
I have very similar situation.
I have 1.1.2 OTB iPhone and I've tried to virginize it's BB myself. But unfortunatly "The virginizer" from i.unlock.no stopped in the middle of the process with message about execution failed. I than I realized what is bootloader 4.6 and that I can't downgrade my BB.
So for now my BB is erased and I have No Wi-Fi, No GSM .........
QUESTION:
Can I somehow restore my BB to original 1.1.2's and use multisim?
Can I use hardware Testpoint way to make my phone working
OR
The only way is to upgrade to 1.1.3 with iTunes and be happy with new iTouch?
Thank you!
