I just did my wife's phone: took me about 4 hours... I am still wondering that the ratio of the poll is still 1:2... I guess a lot of people that get it going in the end still ended up with voting for "no, it did not work", even though, in the end it does work.
Since I myself own a WW30 phone I guess I am pretty much used to all the command line stuff, know my baseband flashing and stuff, which definetely makes it a lot easier once you got the darn thing open.
It took me 30 minutes to get the attenna cover off. I bricked 2 iphone opening tools while opening the silver back plate, which took another 1,5 - 2 hours.
I ended up with minimal scratches, which I guess are still OK for the Missus...
I don't think the screwdriver guide is too good, because you are applying quite a lot of pressure onto the battery. I was quite sure to damage that one, because that would have ended nasty...
In the end I used a my pocket knive to move the cover up and used my iphone opening tools to move it between the edge of the cover...
In the end, you really need to apply a lot of force.... so do not be shy.
Using my knive to get rid of the baseband cover worked also well, after releasing the clamps on one side.
I always looked at the pictures from the guides, to make sure, that beneath the knife was nothing that could be broken by the knife...
Also, I agree, get now magnifying glasses... the traces are really small... I had my pen linght in my mouth while giving myself 30 seconds to connect the trace to the capacitor, counting in my head - it still took me about 10 tries to get it working.

To take the phone apart was very very difficult. I broke 2 plastic opening tools, and it took a LOT of time and patinent, still the result is far from the perfect. Some scratches on the back and the alu cover also blended a little bit. Now it's a bit loosely.
However the unlock itself was a piece of cake. To remove the baseband cover is easy, just requires some time and patience. My third try was succesfull to connect the testpoints without a magnifying glass. I lost the wifi, but the 1.1.2 corrected it. It was really easy, but the dissassembling.
thanks to everyone!
