[1.1.2 OTB] hw unlock, my advice
Hello, I would like to give a piece of a advice to all who are thinking of hw unlock they brand new 1.1.2 oob.
Yesterday I finally decided to begin with the first of seven family iphones.
I decided to try hw unlock because the cost of a sim * 7 iphones is quite high.
The result: an unlocked iphone!!, so great!
the conclusion: i buy 6 sims for the others..., no more hw unlocks for me
Guys... ITS TOO HARD, TOO DANGEROUS, Minimum cosmetical damage, minimum! is guaranteed,
The testpoint thing is SO MUCH SMALL... i have a HUGE magnifying glass and it was SO MUCH difficult!
Guys, SIMS, are everyday cheaper... do not doupt it's not worth it.
Just my opinion, I'm happy with the unlocked phone tough and thanks to all tutorial and this forums.

Yes, I agree with you.
Piece of advice for everyone willing to try this unlocking method: If you have never worked with circuitry, if you have never even seen a circuit board built on SMD components, DON'T TRY THE HARDWARE UNLOCK. Chances are pretty much high you will cut through a track and after that, you're done. The tracks are ridiculously small. If you still don't believe me, check this out:

Compare the size of the tracks to the match. Yep. It is THAT small.
So the bottom line is: don't do it if you don't know how to deal with this kind of circuit boards.

Apple sucks.
Microsoft rules.
TurboSIM-like methods? No way.
- Unlocked Week 47 1.1.3 iPhone, baseband 04.04.05_G.
- Bought in Minneapolis, MN;
- Currently on TIM carrier.
I'm not here to find help. I'm here to help others and give back what I've learned from Hackint0sh.

Well said guys... I took one look at the methods involved, then went straight to ebay to order a *SIM!
Should have the *SIM by Friday! Yay!

I'm sorry don't want to flame, but you're wrong in that.
It is tough for sure, but if you are well prepared, read through forum for any advices and help, use more then one tutorial as a reference, and have a positive attitude and patience, you will finish the DW with minor or no demages what so ever...
btw sry for spelling

Have to agree with you I've done two HW unlocks now without any problems running software side
When you look closely at the back case and the clips on the bezel
you can see that they are designed only to be easily to push together
not pull apart.
When you watch the videos on www.ifixit.com and see how easy he
makes it look you have to laugh, but he is selling used covers
in new condition so there must be a trick to getting em off right.
I just can't seem to do it without small marks on the edges even with the green
removal tools I purchased from ebay theres always a few clips that will not let
go without a fight
