Lightbulb [1.1.2 OTB] Hardware Unlock - My experience.

    Hi guys

    I've managed to do it.

    Here's what happened to me.

I downgraded to 1.1.1 and downloaded Geohot's files. I ran ienew and got screwed because I was running through wi-fi. WinCP froze and I was locked out of the iPhone.

Lost some time trying to downgrade to 1.0.2 then upgrade to 1.1.2 and whatnot.. didn't work.

Using iBRickr and iTunes I managed to downgrade it to 1.0.2 and then jailbreak it with iBrickr.. then copy the lockdown file to the right directory and it was activated.

iBrickr wouldn't work to install by PXL either terminal or bsd subsystem so I installed terminal.app through wiNstaller.

After that I opened the iPhone and ran iunew. Got some bus error .. I was missing testcode.bb file. Put it in the same directory as the other files. ran iunew and got the "hold testpoint" problem so I wasn't doing the TP right.

After a couple times I ran sleep 30; iunew and got the TP right. FLashed the bootloader.

Restored to 1.1.1 using iTunes, jailbroke and activated through jailbreak.me method.

    Installed oKtoprep through Installer

    Shift-Updated it to 1.1.2

Installed BSD system and Terminal app.. ran bbupdater and I'm 3.9 BL now.

    Running anysim soon.

    Have fun!

I used a flat screwdriver with duct tape on it to avoid scratches.. but I recommend you using some sort of iPhone opening tool that's made of plastic I still got my iPhone scratched.

I followed Speedy Guide (google it)

    have fun!

I got my 1.1.2 OTB working too, following http://iphone.unlock.no/

The hack was dead easy and took only half an hour. However, I spent another 11 hours trying to open the case without destroying it (which I didn't manage) and going round and round in loops trying to unlock and jailbreak 1.1.2.

Still, new rear covers are not so expensive and it feels good to have finally unlocked it!

Hey all .. i just wanted to say thank you so much for all the tutorials and posts made on this site, without them my 1.1.2 OTB would be bricked.
My experience with the H/W unlock was a bit diffrent from the majority of the posts. I actually messed up the first time and had to do A17 testpoint twice.
The first try i followed a mix of geohot's post and the tutorial from iphone.unlock.no .
I ended up using geohots method but i forgot to get the NOR file... big mistake.
This is how i got a currupt IMEI 0049.... although i still had bluetooth +wireless.
i ran bbupdater -v and i got back version 3.8 M3S3 (it was not 3.9 probobly cuz i had the wrong nor.)

For the second try, i restored 1.1 +jail break and started from scratch (thank god i didnt close the phone till it worked)

    1. Jailbreak + Activate 1.1.1
    2. Install DropCopy, and terminal
    3. Copy all of geohots files to Iphone and use the nor file posted on the first sticky here in hackint0sh. (the one that is already edited)
    4. Geohot's instructions are pretty straight foward
    5. ran iunew with testpoint ... everything worked
    6. Restore to 1.1.2 --> then restore to 1.1.1
    7. Jailbreak 1.1.1 again , install Oktoprep
    8. UPGRADE to 1.1.2

now the weird thing was, Anysim did not work in 1.1.1 but after i upgraded to 1.1.2 and jailbroke it, my sim miraculously started working without using AnySim1.2.1 (does anyone know why??)

In the end it took about 7 hours (hardest part being removing the case) which i practically destroyed.. Also i suggest a magnifying glass!! i think i almost broke the connection (if you saw the scratches i made, you would smack me..)
sorry i dont have anymore specifics, i will try to post pics when i can.
My phone is week 50 btw.

if you need me to clarify a little more let me know (this is my first post in hackint0sh)and again thanks to everyone including Geohot! that contributed to tutorials and fixes.

--- For the ppl who are still unsuccessful-----
DO NOT UPGRADE to 1.1.3 !
you can still fix your broken IMEI! just do it again with the correct nor file!
if you have a diffrent issue, keep trying, with time and patience you can achieve anything!

IPHONE 1.1.2 OTB H/W unlock--- Success!!!!
