    I finally solved the "no wifi" & lost baseband problem.

    I made a mistake and ran the ienew from the Mac terminal over wifi while still on 1.1.2 [i know i was really excited and forgot to downgrade]. then lost connection while erasing and ended up with no wifi, no baseband.

    How to solve [i used windowz this time with iTunes 7.5.0.20]
    run itunes, say ok to everything once it settles down, press and hold the power & home button until iTunes say the iphone is in restore mode [screen changes based on firmware, etc]. then whike pressing the shift key click on restore and select the 1.0.2 firmware file

    once downgrade finished the phone will stay in DFU mode. and iTunes will show some errors but do not quit iTunes.
    get ibrickr v091.
    run ibrickr and press boot ...
    if the screen goes to green that means there is a problem, but dont worry just redo everything from the beginning.
    once you kick the phone out of DFU mode, use ibrickr to jailbreak.
    when you do this successfully it will show applications, files, ringtones, etc.
    download "youtube activate" files on the net and activate the phone using this.
    when done you will see the home screen but the phone will show a message saying repair needed and you still wont have baseband and wifi.

    download [from ibrickr repository or iphone.exploit.org if the previous one doesn't work and you need safari to get the files from the latter!]
    1 - BSD subsystem pxl file
    2 - Mobile terminal pxl file

    this files will have zip extension, do not unzip them just remove the zip and leave the pxl as extension.
    then use the ibrickr to install the pxl files [choose using pxl file option]
    this is the trick which made me suffer because the terminal application didn't run on iphone. And getting the terminal application is your life line, you gotto get a running terminal on this phone to rescue it!!!

    now test whether the mobile terminal runs!! if not then something is wrong you can't carry on.

    get [from George's web blog]
    the rar file for hardware unlock
    and the nor file from here http://therepository.binarytide.com/nor3.9.rar, do not use any other nor

    use ibrickr to upload all these files to /usr/bin
    [or create a special folder somewhere]

    on the iphone
    run the terminal application and issue
    chmod +x iunew [first cd to the folder where the files are]
    [dont remember now but i guess there were some other executables you need to change]

    at this point I'm assuming that your iphone is ready for test point short circuit.
    on the iphone mobile terminal run
    sleep 20; iunew
    then you have the get the test point short circuit in 20 sec. if not it will tell you that you need the test point. repeat until iunew runs [it will take sometime to see response but eventually it say ok etc.] at this point dont bother with bbupdater -v. etc.

    now restore [not update] to 1.1.2 you will have the baseband & wifi back
    then follow the usual method to downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbrek, activate then update [not restore] back to 1.1.2, jailbreak. it should have the baseband and wifi working.

    if you want, add "rep.frenchiphone.com" to your sources in installer and install AnySim 1.2u and unlock your phone using the instructions.
    good luck, i did it and it worked. thanks to everyone providing us these tools.

    looks good.
    But a few of us are having problems downgrading to 1.0.2.
    I think that something we did made it not let us downgrade.
    It is always stuck on "waiting for Iphone"

    edit:
    just did a total reinstall of Vista on my Laptop, and still.
    "waiting for Iphone"
    tried from both 1.1.2, and 1.1.1.
    Bricked. or have a 1.1.3 brick.
    thats all i can say.

    void unlock(int& Iphone)
    char FRUSTRATION(true);
    do
    {
    Unlock(Iphone);
    }while (FRUSTRATION=='true');

    you made a mistake mate, it takes time and doesnt give any output for a while. after the bootloader downgrade [iunew] the terminal application slow down, in fact the whole phone slows down!!

    shows an apple, and a busy icon near the bottom,
    meanwhile itunes stuck at waiting.
    void unlock(int& Iphone)
    char FRUSTRATION(true);
    do
    {
    Unlock(Iphone);
    }while (FRUSTRATION=='true');

    Hi moho! Just had a similar problem - the phone didn't want to downgrade to 1.0.2. Worked like a charm to 1.1.1 though - the problem is if you lost the WiFi and can't jailbreak it! Hope someone has a solution soon!

    moho and alex,
    I also had this problem when trying to downgrade to 1.0.2. what worked for me was that I pressed F5 in ibrickr while itunes was saying "waiting for iphone" and so it detected it and went on with the downgrade process

    You were lucky, weren't you? I'm stuck here also not able to downgrade to 1.0.2. The F5 trick didn't work. Does someone have an idea what can be tried to get this thing working again, or do we have to let it go?
