Exclamation [1.1.2 OTB h/w unlock] Notes and tricks about my experience on the H/W unlock

    Hi guys,

I've just finished an H/W unlock for 1.1.2

I'm in london and phone was from o2 store.

    It took 14 hours, 10 coffee, 2 sandwich :-)

So about disassembling the iphone I suggest you to do something:

1- while opening the black cover, start from the charger port, and leave something in the small space between the port and the black cover like a tiny knife or a cutted credit card (to unlock the locks) and then with a ipod opener go for the speaker and the mic, lifting the black cover, there are some locks there too.

2 - for the metal part i'd say (if you wanna leave the iphone perfect after the unlock to sell it) use 3 even 4 ipod openers, since the openers are very delicate and are gonna be useless soon attempting to open the metal part. Be very gently and after opening it you could fix the edges of the rear metallic cover with a clap covered with paper or cotton to avoid scratches.

2 - The processors to patch are damn small, the line on the mother board to uncover is thiner then an hair, you are gonna need a good magnifying glass to go ahead, but i suggest you to locate the track with the magnifying glass and then to remove the green plastic from the track without the glass, so your movements are gonna be more controlled and natural, if you break the track you are screwed.

3 - About the software part you can go ahead and use the tutorial from unlock.no ..
    just one thing..
after the process you'll end with an 1.1.1 iphone without baseband, you'll need to make a restore of 1.1.2 to get a baseband to keep going.
But the problem is (at least for me) that when i was trying to restore, when the worst was done, itunes didn't let me restore, it was keeping saying "the iphone cannot be restored an unknown error has occurred (1)"
To solve this i was able (after 3 attempts from 3 different version of itunes) to restore to 1.0.2 with iBrikr and itunes 7.3.2 ... then I had to restore to 1.1.1 to jailbreak and prepare to 1.1.2 upgrade, then in 1.1.2 after running the script jailbrak.jar i 've been able finally to unlock with anysim121u ore something (the latest).

i suggest all the noobies to don't do it, along the way you ll be in frustrating situation, and it took 14 hours for me, I'll be honest, i wont say "yeah is easy 2 hours"

thanks to all the people who were on the forum and who helped me during my way, i thought I had to give to the community some others trikcs, which you can't learn from theories but just from actually doing the unlock.

    Good luck!
