ok progress. restored 1.1.2 which got me my wifi, imei and ccid back. Downgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbreaked. Now, the only problem is my home button isn't working. Any ideas anyone?

    Here is the solution:

    1- Find a jailbroken iphone.

2- Dissamble Commboard from the error giving no WIFI unknown IMEI iphone.

3- Install BL downgrade files including nor file into a directory on your working iphone. I put nor file into another directory after ienew i copied it into the directory of BL downgrade files.

4- Install the no wifi unknown imei iphone`s commboard into the working iphone.

now press top button and turn on the phone.

wait for a while because it takes some time like a minute to see the jailbroken springboard.

    once you are in :

    -- go to terminal

    launchctl unload com.apple.CommCenter.plist file....

go into the directory with BL downgrade files.
    chmod 777 *
    run ienew
copy nor file into the BL files directory
    test point
    run iunew

now your no wifi unknown IMEI phone is with BL 3.9

IMPORTANT : IF YOU EVER RESTORED OR UPDATED A BL4.6 IPHONE TO 1.1.3 YOU CANNOT RECOVER YOUR IPHONE EVEN IF RESTORING TO 1.1.3 ENDS UP WITH ERROR 1011

If you restored 1.1.3 then you should find secpack of 1.1.3 which --according to some folk-- only available with the new firmware upgrade.
Everything was fine. It booted, but I wasn't able to see it jailbroken/activated, so I can't do anything. Any ideas?

If you executed the procedure above with the jailbreaked phone and the bricked comm board then you should be able to reboot the phone and see the terminal application again. Propably you got at runtime some weird messages from ienew like "can't write" but the expected messages from iunew. Was the same for me. For a double check you can rerun the ienew iunew procedure again. This time all messages should be as expected.

After that you can reswap the comm boards and commence with the bricked phone flashing 1.1.2 then 1.1.1. jailbreak .... and so on.

Hm.. So, you are telling me that I was supposed to run terminal and put the ocmmands:
    "launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    cd /usr/bin/
    ienew"

    then turn off my iphone

    swap comm boards

and I should be able to see the springboard then go into terminal again and type sleep 20; iunew?

then connect needles then restore? or swap boards then restore?

    nope. here's what I did,

    1. swap bad comm board into good phone.
    2. run term and unload CommCenter
    3. forget ienew, the baseband is not there
    4. sleep 60; iunew (from /usr/bin otherwise it will fail)
    5. do testpoint
    6. once testpoint is completed, hit any char to continue
    7. once it's finished, shutdown phone
    8. swap comm board back into broken phone
    9. start it up, restore to 1.1.1
    10. restore to 1.1.2
    11. wifi, imei and ccid all fixed

However, I have now lost the home button. Probably dead phone now.

The 1.1.2->1.0.2 downgrade process took very long time for me, compared to other downgrades/upgrades. May be somewhere around 20-30mins or so. I guess patience is the key. May be you can try the path 1.1.2->1.1.1->1.0.2. At the end there is a yellow triangle in black background with some warning message. You can use ibrickr to come out of that state. Search this forum how to use ibrickr.
I really wish I WRONGLY conclude that. So how do you pass the "waiting for iphone" stage when you restoring 1.0.2. You neve met this message, do you?

So, I guess the only option would be to upgrade to 1.1.3 and have a nice Itouch

    Default Arghh

How can you guys be so stupid?

    1. Follow EvelynK's method.
    2. Now once BL is 3.9 ie downgrade is done successfully, use iBrickr to put in the ICE03.14.08_G.eep, ICE03.14.08_G.fls, bbupdater, ieraser and 113/112 Secpack.
    3. Now go into mobile terminal
    4. Run ieraser
    5. Run bbupdater -v, should be "Not Responsive"
    6. Run bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep
    7. Run bbupdater -v, now it should be 03.14.08_G, with BL 3.9
    8. Reboot phone
    9. Confirm bbupdater -v

    Restore to 1.1.1 and unlock.
