Hi Everyone,

I am a complete novice on phone unlocking and so I am a bit confused. (A side note: I haven't bought a new cellphone since 1997 until the iPhone showed up. :p ) To add to it, my situation is a bit different from standard.

I have a OOB 1.1.2 iPhone that I purchased in the US in December. What is a bit unusual is that I actually activated it with AT&T and used it as a go phone for a month in the States. Now that I am back on Canadian soil, my phone has turned into an expensive iPod since go phones cannot roam in Canada.

Since the software unlock development seems to be stuck in the mud and understandably so, I am considering the StealthSim. I have read through some of the posts and the dealer's web site but I still have a question on its install. Since my phone is completely activated, do I still need to downgrade and jailbreak the phone before using the Stealth Sim? From what I can understand, the entire jailbreaking procedure is needed so that the phone is actually active and ready to communicate with the SIM. Since my phone is already active, is the procedure still necessary? Since I am new at this, I would like to avoid as many "operations" as possible.
