If you are willing to experiment try this link :
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31876
(PAY ATTENTION: IT IS FOR BL 3.9 ONLY, so if you are willing to try you MUST DOWNGRADE YOUR BOOTLOADER, which is risky) !!!!
Or, wait, few more days .... 2-3 at most.
BTW: Method works with any operator ....

Chrisili> i have been reading the forum for about three hours now and have tried to piece together an answer but no one has confirmed it yet!
Yuhackman> thanks anyway, i would love to say i would try but i'll wait and hope that someone finds a way to use a non iphone O2 sim with 1.1.4 WITHOUT downgrading Bootloader or unlocking the phone (leaving you with a lower BB).
Ideally i hope for a solution that leaves me with a working iphone on 1.1.4 FW the latest BB using a 4.6 bootloader, and using my non iphone O2 sim!
One can dream!

Why to just dream ...
Just be patient and you will see ... anyway 1.1.4 is BUG FIX update, the real stuff is due to March 6, with release of SDK, shoul follow a new firmware 1.1.5 (or maybe ....)

I would like a 1.1.4 with 4.6BL on 04.04.05 BB....

I dont really understand all this boatloader and baseband. But in the info tab on Independence it says BaseBand - 04.02.13_G.
Ill find it all out by tomorrow and write a tutorial for it once i get home from school!

Ok i have read its not good in the long run to have an older baseband running with a newer firmware which is exactly what Ziphone unlock does, it downgrades your baseband to the 1.1.2 baseband from the 1.1.4 baseband....
Do all iphone features work without hacks? youtube and google maps 'locateMe' function?

Bootloader (currently there are two at the "table") is much like a BIOS of your Computer it cares and prepares load of the Operating System and other stuff, and it is a last resort if anything goes wrong, that ir why Aplle never updates BOOTLOADER via software (too risky)
Baseband is the program than govern your CommBoard hence your WiFi,your Bluetooth, and, of course your cellular (GSM) part of the iPhone. It can be erased, upgraded downgraded, modified (that is how we unlocks iPhones, by mods in baseband)
Latest baseband is from 1.1.4 SW 04.04_G and it is still unlocable in AnySIM way until someone does not make AnySIM 1.4
Regarding IPSF unlock, that is another story, since it does not modify basebend then rather patch something that is called seczone, and therefore can survive updates .... your iPhone stays unlocked after updates, but also have some minor downsides.
Hope i cleared things for you a little bit .... and iPhone is NOT a phone it is basicly a mini computer with phone functions ....
