Its the new baseband for example 04.14.13_G and thats the way GeoHot used to get into the bootloader and delete it.
Bootloader 4.6 doesnt let you get in unless the baseband is newer then the version you have. GeoHot used the new version (from 113) and managed to get into the bootloader then uploaded some files then deleted the old bootloader and uploaded the old one

Hi Michele,
The only reason why people who upgraded to 1.1.3 must wait until 1.1.4 to be able to unlock their phones is because, the new 4.6 bootloader only allows you to install a newer version of the radio firmware. The previous bootloader allowed the same version or newer, which when it comes to unlocking makes a huge difference.
As for why the new bootloader is not unlocked like the old one, is because Apple fixed the problem with the old bootloader that hackers used to rewrite the firmware. Hackers now have to find a new method to software unlock the new firmware. Since the 1.1.3 update is very recent, they haven't been able to accomplish that feat yet.
Hope it's clear. I would recommend reading a bit more on this site as a lot of the questions I've answered may be found in other posts. Making sure you've searched the forum before you ask questions, avoids repeated questions, and also allows admins more time to respond to newer questions, instead of responding to similar questions over and over.
Kind regards,
Marcio

you need to read more. you can NOT downgrade a baseband period on 4.6 boot loaders which is what 1.1.2otb came with...
SO, if you upgraded to 1.1.3 fully, you will need to wait for 1.1.4 for a unlock situation to be possible. but in actuality u may be just shit out of luck period since you upgraded as there is never any guarantees.
1.1.2otb has not even been fully software unlocked yet. you need to do a hardware method downgrade on the bootloader which is NOT possible on 1.1.3 because the secpack from 1.1.4 is needed to modify any current baseband info.
1.1.2 required 1.1.3, tada it worked
1.1.1 required 1.1.2, tada that worked.
1.1.3 requries 1.1.4, no 1.1.4 so you shall wait.
originally OTB 1.1.2 iPhone 4.6BL
hActivated/Jailbroken/gUnlocked
Tzones hacked
T-Mobile USA
