1.1.2 OTB 04.02.13_G Bought 11/27/07
Hi,
This is my first post here. I bought a unlocking tool from eBay 3 days ago and was able to downgrade my iphone to 1.1.1 but used iBrickr in windows to kick out of DFU mode. So, my phone is now jailbroken, right? Anyway, I have installed SimFree v1.8 instead. After I run this program, it tells me that I have to call my service provider which is AT&T because it won't unlock my phone. I did not want to pay the $20/month. I just want to insert my sim card from an old phone. So, everything works but no sim would work. Is there a way I can activate this phone? I don't need to unlock it at all but I just want my sim card to work in this iphone. When I connect my phone to itunes 7.5, it recognizes my phone number and tells me that I have the 1.1.1 version and they want me to upgrade to 1.1.2 but I don't want to. Can anyone tell me what to do next? Please??? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long thread

Unfortunately you may have an IPhone with the new bootloader 4.6 which unlockable by the way of software. It can be unlocked by using Turbo Sims. Kindly do a search on the Forum and you may find the answer on how to unlock and use whatever SIM you have by way of Turbo SIM's.

Is there any way to tell which bootloader you have? Friend just got an iphone with the same above specis 1.1.2 and .02.13 drivers. Is there anyway to find out, I would prefer not to brick his.
Thanks,
In advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's tempting to have it unlocked but at this point, I just want this iphone to get activated without the contract. I liked the AT&T service and don't have a problem with them but have problem paying $480

Hi If you just got your iphone out of the box and its 1.1.2 then you have the new bootloader (which cant be unlocked for the moment.)

Restore your iphone to 1.1.2 by hitting the restore button. Then follow the guide here http://www.unlockthatiphone.com/process.php . Currently there is no unlock for your iphone bootloader, but you still can activate without contract by following that guide.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know that with 02.13 G there were some units with that firmware and could be unlocked, I was hoping he made the cut off and got one of the old units randomly. Now I get to break the bad news to him tomorrow. Thanks for helping me not to brick his.

If you have AT&T sim, you can use it once activated and jailbroke.
I have oob 1.1.2. I downgraded to 1.1.1, oktoprep, then upgraded to 1.1.2, then used jailbreak 1.1.2. At that point the phone was activated and jailbroke. I put my At&T sim and now works. All without new contract and no 29.95 extra a month.
