Lightbulb 1.1.2 Dev-team Jailbreak GUI Released

Conceited Software/TouchFree has just released its GUI jailbreak. This is the "final bit" that performs the jailbreak after you run OktoPrep in 1.1.1 and then upgrade to 1.1.2. The Software runs under OS X and Windows, grabs the data off your iPod touch or iPhone, upgrades it with the Jailbreak, installs Installer.app and SSH.app, and reloads it back to your unit. The whole procedure takes about 10 minutes and after, you have a fully updated 1.1.2 jailbroken system.

EDIT: Before you start asking questions read the README.txt included in the zip archive. For your convenience I am posting two important bits from the README:

**** NOTE: This method currently requires you be on 1.1.1 of the firmware. If you are on 1.1.2
you must downgrade prior to being able to use this jailbreak. ****

**** NOTE: PLEASE NOTE THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS ON ITUNES ACTIVATED PHONES OR IPOD TOUCHES ****

Yes, this is already discussed here

But you can't use a different SIM card, instead of AT&T,O2 or T-Mobile. Even if you used IPSF or anysim 1.2, there is also another SIM check involved.

True, but jailbreaking was never about using different SIMs. Hopefully an activation tool is available soon.

We are still missing the lockdownd patch for 1.1.2.

The only method at this time for non iTunes activated phones is to use 1.1.1 lockdownd to gain access to the phone in 1.1.2, use iASign to activate and then replace the lockdownd back. Also, downgrading to 1.0.2 is necessary to patch the new baseband with the "Elite" anySIM 1.2.

    So, to answer some questions:

Is it possible to have use 1.1.2 with a unofficial SIM card now?
    Yes.

Is it worth all the work?
    NO. Not at this time

Too much manual work, too many things that can go wrong, specially when making 5 restores (upgrades/downgrades) and at least 2 jailbreaks.

Wait for an unlock that runs on 1.1.2 and for a jailbreak that includes lockdownd and YouTube.

It means that you MUST (at the moment) have an either ATT (US), TMobile (DE), or O2 (UK) legit iphone SIM to able to use this Jailbreak. This situation will change of course once an activation solution (a la iNdpendence) is out.

Just to clarify: Jailbreaking has nothing to do with Activation. Jailbreaking gives you read/write access to the iPhone so you can use 3rd party apps. And since at the moment no activation solutions is out, only properly activated SIM cards (with itunes) can use this jailbreak.

wait.. while i was attempting to update mine, (t-mobile) i did manage to activate it. the guy has a link on his webpage, and it works. so i guess u guys should not say it does not work with non-itunes activated phones.
all you have to do is: jailbreak + install ssh, winscp the lockdown file to the phone. restart and it should be activated.

Does this mean that I can jailbreak my european iphone from tmobile with the original sim? I only want to be sure that I've got a working iPhone not an ipod touch?

Yes, it should work. But you need to downgrade to 1.1.1, then perform the steps (Okto*) and you can upgrade to 1.1.2 (jailbreak)

But I would wait a little bit longer, until the dev team has an easier solution.

Activation should be pretty easy using a modded lockdownd and then applying the iASign method discussed in the early 1.1.1 unlock. It works.
Unfortunately AnySIM1.2u is pretty crappy (and this is a "mild" description ).
