Default [1.1.2 / 1.1.3 OTB] Better to stay with hard unlock?

I am really sorry that this looks like (maybe is) a noob post but I am very confused having visited this forum after about a month or two.

I have a 1.1.2 OTB unlocked with a TurboSIM. Is it better to stick with this or go in for the software unlock and upgrade to 1.1.4 (if this is indeed possible). I've read here on the forums that people have faced many issues including having to downgrade that bootloader. Please advise.

    Many Thanks!
