I unlocked an iPhone for my friend in Germany back in December of '07 and here lately he says it's been crashing at random, displaying the Apple logo and such.

I used a 1.0.2 iPhone from back in September that had previously been used "legitimately" on the AT&T network here in the US and I can't remember exactly but I believe I used touchfree to jailbreak and then Anysim 1.1 to unlock for firmware 1.1.1 then used Oktoprep and the anysim "1.2.1u" or something like that to upgrade and unlock to 1.1.2.

He's coming to visit me in June and I told him I could take a look at it then. Is there any way to fix him up to 1.1.4 firmware using iLiberty or something like that?

Any ideas what's going on with my poor friend's phone? All help appreciated.

you should be able to do a restore to 1.1.4 and use iLiberty+ or pwned. Well... June ... there will be 2.0 :-)
In the mean time, your friend can try settings, general, reset, reset all to see if that may help

Ok that sounds good I'll have him try the reset in the meantime. I'll just wait until he comes to visit to try and fix his phone, I'm afraid if something goes haywire he'll want me to try to fix it remotely via ICQ or something telling him what to do which would be a terrible idea.
