Default [1.1.1] update to 1.1.2 -> jailbreak problem

    Hi folks,

I have a problem. I have tried it several times to update from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 (did always the alt-click-update thing in iTunes) but the update always finish with the recovery / emergency mode. At this point when I use jailbreak.jar it doesnt' work. Sometimes it stucks at the reading of the flash image and on the other time the progressbar goes till the end and then it stucks there.

I have an UK iPhone 1.1.2 OOB.

Are you on a mac or a pc???

    ALT click???

Its shift and update.. and then you chose the file you want.. if your doing that.. then theres something wrong..

if you don't get the window asking for a file .. then you've gone to 1.1.3 and not 1.1.2...

    @besalva: Independence won't work with 1.1.2....

Ok i am driving crazy, It's too much for me. I don't understand it. I've tried now at least 10 times and everytime with the same result, the recovery / emergency mode.

Ok for my understanding. When I finish the 1.1.2 update in which mode should my iphone turn?

Ok here what i am using:

    iPhone UK 1.1.2 OTB
    Macbook Pro with Leopard
    iTunes 7.4.2
Independence 1.3b2 (for some reasons the newer versions crashes when they are detecting the iphone)
    firmware 1.1.1
    firmware 1.1.2
    Jailbreak software form http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html

    What i am doing:

    - Restore to 1.1.1 in iTunes
    - Use Independence to get it out of recovery mode
    - Do the *#301# thing and install AppTapp
    - 1.1.1 is Jailbreaked
    - Install -> Tweak 1.1.1 -> Oktoprep
    - Open iTunes do an alt-click on update
    - choose the 1.1.2 firmware
    - after that firmware update is ready my iPhone reboots and stucks in the recovery / emergency mode
    - i'm driving crazy
    - any try to use Jailbreak.jar failed

    PLZ anyone help me...

Once again the flow to correctly upgrade to 1.1.2

    1) Start at 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, do a fresh 1.1.2 RESTORE
This will load the new baseband firmware.

    2) Now, RESTORE (downgrade) first to 1.1.1 and then to 1.0.2.
This will not alter the baseband firmware, so it will still be the 1.1.2 version

    3) Now on 1.0.2, jailbreak and install anySIM 1.2 or anySIM 1.2.1u (they are the same)

    4) Run anySIM 1.2(.1u) to unlock the phone. Although you are running fw 1.0.2 with a 1.1.2 baseband, the phone will work. Yes, this combination works and checks for a proper unlock.

    5) Now RESTORE to 1.1.1 again

    6) Do a jailbreakme.com and use installer to fetch and run OktoPrep

    7) Now do a *RESTORE* to 1.1.2

    8) Jailbreak and replace lockdownd

DO NOT RUN anySIM 1.2 under 1.1.2. It will not work properly and you risk corrupting your baseband.

    - after that firmware update is ready my iPhone reboots and stucks in the recovery / emergency mode
After the 1.1.2 update leave the iPhone connected until iTunes see it, then close iTunes, and click the jailbreak.jar.

@Tobe: YES you are my hero :-)

The iTunes thing was the hitch. Just because I always quitted iTunes a few seconds to early I had all this trouble, unbelievable. This issue should be integrated into the tutorials.

    Again Tobe, thx a lot.
