1.1.1 unlocked , came with AT&T sim card ready to make calls, is this really free?
Hi, i`ve unlocked about 50 iphones and recently i bought 12 iphones to sell unlocked here in Mexico.
While I was unlocking the iphone with the *#307# and jailbreakme.com method, I realized a phone number was being display in Contacts with 702 as area code (las vegas, wich is where I bought it), I thought it was weird but I continued with the unlocking process and all worked fine.
I replaced AT&T sim card with my mexican sim card to run anySIM and all worked fine.
Then I put back AT&T sim card in the iphone and I realized the name of my mexican provider was being displayed on top, so I tried to make a call and it got trough!!!
Since then I have been able to send sms, make international calls and even use EDGE.
Do you think AT&T is going to charge me for that in any way? I checked the credit card balance and everything is fine, no charges there.
Please let me know what you think or if anyone has had the same "problem".
Regards.

You either got:
a) Someones AT&T contract card. Not good, and dishonest if you're using it. Someone is footing the bill for that somewhere and unfortunately for them AT&T will likely hold them to it if they gave away their SIM card. Best bet, from a karma perspective, is to cut it up and toss it. You wouldn't want someone using your SIM, would you?
b) A pre-paid AT&T card. If this is the case, someones loss is your gain. Use it until it dies because if you don't, AT&T makes money for doing nothing (as if they don't do that every day already, thank you very much American justice department).

I tried to find some answers on SETTINGS/PHONE/AT&T SERVICES and asked for a bill balance and tried to view my minutes and all I got was "This information is not available for your account type " and "Were sorry, requested info is currently unavailable, please try again later"
by the way, I just made a call , sent a sms used EDGE once just to see if it works.

If the balance service didn't work it's possible that you have a pre-paid SIM. Does the card say anything specific on it (ie, that it's pre-paid)?

Well, I think there are a number of options:
first two have been covered: someone's SIM which was left in the iPhone (how did you buy it?) and a pre-paid card.
Then there's an option that this is some kind of AT&T super sim (not quite sure if such cards exist), which enables the iPhone for testing all functionality before shipping (I guess there could be such cards available, they do have to do some quality assurance before shipping) which was just forgotten in the phone.
I don't know if it's possible to do that to any random SIM card or they are mostly read-only cards, but someone could have copied a SIM/faked a SIM through listening to the network traffic etc and forgotten that SIM there, in this case the receiving end of the bill could be anyone, though I doubt that option.
I'd say that in any case it's an interesting situation you are in. If it is indeed a super sim or a prepaid card, then I'd use it as long as possible

To find out if the SIM is a "post paid" or monthly service, check the account balance by entering *225# then Call. For pre-paid, enter *777# then Call.
