Default [1.1.1] Unlocked, but locked back after 1.1.2 upgrade

uploaded to the new firmware 1.1.2 on my iPhone via itunes and now get an error message in itunes saying "itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iphone before it can be used with itunes". despite efforts to figure out a way past this i've been unsuccesful

in addition to this error message, when i go to my iphone i also see the following message "Incorrect SIM, Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone" with the option to slide the arrow beneath to the right for emergency calls

i've done some research on the internet to find out how to correct either of the error messages and as i said found nothing for the first message about the passcode, but i have found some stuff on the second error message and from what i've read believe i have to downgrade my firmware back to 1.1.1 (what the phone originally came with)

i've tried to follow the instructions i found but have run into a third problem using PuTTY to talk to my iPhone. whenever i enter what i believe is my wi-fi IP address i get the following message:
PuTTY Fatal Error, Network error: Connection refused

I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong - maybe i've got the wrong ip address (but i doubt it) and the thing is i can't get it from the iphone since it's locked - i'm hoping somebody on this site will be able to help me

As an FYI, i should let you know i'm not in the states, i'm in Toronto, so my phone is not with AT & T, it's with Rogers Wireless

At this point i'm confused - all this stuff is pretty new to me and i'm learning as i go so any help that anyone could give me would be great
    thanks guys

if your iphone is 1.1.1 and is unlocked with anysim 1.1.1 you can just do a rstore and jailbreak and activate.

    The unlock will remain
