my bad i thot u guys were familiar w/ the 1.1.2 jailbreak

ur supposed to get the error

you use jailbreak.jar to boot from recovery mode

    # Download the iTunes 1.1.2 jailbreak folder from Conceited Software. http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html
    # If you are using a Mac, double-click jailbreak.jar in the file you just downloaded. If you are on a Windows system, double-click the file windows.bat. Click the “Boot from Recovery” button. This should force the iPhone out of recovery mode.
    # reboot and go to the “Activate iPhone” screen. In other cases, the progress bar never finishes, but the proper process occurs, and the iPhone screen goes completely black with the device powering off. At this point, you might need to hold down the power button for several seconds until the device restarts. If 10 or minutes have gone by and nothing has happened (the recovery mode screen, with an iTunes icon and a USB cable, is still displayed on your iPhone), try disconnecting your iPhone and reconnecting it and trying again, or restart your computer and trying again.
    # Launch iTunes if it is not open. You will no see the “Waiting for Activation” screen, but your iPhone won’t activate.
    # Slide to unlock your iPhone, and launch Safari.
    # Navigate to www.jailbreakme.com.
    # Go to the bottom of the page and tap “Install AppSnapp.”
    # You will see the “Downloading Programs” message and a spinning progress indicator.
    # At the end of the process, your iPhone will be jailbroken under firmware version 1.1.1, but you won’t have access to voice services yet.
    # Slide to unlock your iPhone. You will see the “Installer” icon on your home screen. Tap it.

I'm pretty sure that's a computer problem (itunes). Unfortunately, itunes is really poorly developed, so such problems happens very often.

Try first to just change usb port, if it doesn't work, try to uninstall itunes, and install it again.

I have the exactly same problem "iphone cannot be restored an unknown error occurred (1)" any idea? it seems this problem is common after the hardware unlock of 1.1.2otb, when you are still in 1.1.1 and you are managing to restore to 1.1.2 to get the baseband again, any info on this?

I found this solution on iphones.ru forum.
You should press and hold Home and Sleep buttons. Release the Sleep button in 3 seconds after the screen goes black. iTunes will find the phone in recovery mode (the screen will be staying black). Then restore to the 1.1.1 firmware. At first the error 1064 appears. After that you should restore with the 1.1.1 firmware again, the error 1015 appears.
Then exit recovery mode with run iBrick or iPhuc.exe or iNdependence (if you are on Mac).
So, you have an unjailbroken, unactivated, locked phone with 1.1.1 firmware and 1.1.3 baseband.

    And sorry for my english

You're confusing the "1015 error" with the one that I'm geting....
I'm geting "unknown error" after extracting the file and before the iphone starts downgrading.

I had avoided updating to 1.1.3 up til now, I had disabled "check for updates auto" but I couldn't get any other firmware to load onto my phone and it was totally screwed so thats the only reason why I even allowed it to restore using 1.1.3. I have tried downgrading to 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 but I keep getting the error message with the (1) attached after extracting the files. And before you ask.. yes it was in DFU mode Please help..

are you all in DFU mode with only the black screen on the iphone? Or does it show the cable pointing to the itunes logo?
