I have a bricked iphone, and have tried for last month & half to repair it.
What I want:
1. Phone restored back to locked virgin state, so I can use ATT SIM
2. or if not possible, unlocked.

Phone is now at Activate iPhone, No Sim card installed, install unlocked SIM, the screen with the globe on it.

I can not tell what firmware is on oit, nor EMIE, nor WiFi status, since I can not get to the springboard.

Can anyone fix this, rtestore this to a OOB phone? If so, I am waiiling to pay a reward.

anywho, try this..

Make sure you have a SIM-card with PIN turned off, and power on your phone (the supplied AT&T card works fine).
On the activation screen, slide for emergency and dial: *#301# to make the phone call itself. (If the incoming call dialog quickly disappears but it keeps ringing, just dial 0 (remove *#301# first), and it will call itself)
Answer the call, and tap on Hold
Phone will call it self again, tap Decline. You will now be returned to the normal dialer.
Tap on contacts, and tap the + icon to add a new. The only info you are going to add to this contact are two URL's. To add a URL, tap Add new URL. The first URL is prefs followed by a colon.

Do that, and then TRY AND GO INTO PREFS.. this wil ltake you to a normal ipohne settings MENU.. tell me what firmware it is..

IF IT ISNT 1.1.3 , just PUT IT INTO DFU MODE, and Restore it with itunes....
but make sure u DONT restore with 1.1.3 , restore with an earlier firmware.. get an IPSW. file of 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, but if your gonna be using ATT sim, dosent matter.. even 1.1.3 will work..

but was it a 1.1.2 OTB?..or 1.1.1 OTB or lower?..

cause if it was 1.1.2 otb, theres no way to unlock it softwarewise, Just Restore it with itunes..

way to tell if itll be 1.12 OTB, look at your box, look at your serial number .. 4TH AND 5TH digit are the Serial Number.. k?.. so it should say like 42 , 4 being 4th number and 2 being fifth number..meaning your iphone is, WEEK 42.. .and If the iphone is OVER week 40, chances are very likely that ITS a 1.1.2 OTB..

so if your an ATT coustomer, just go Restore the iphone, with 1.1.3 even, dosent matter..

But first off, Tell us what firmware it is by doing the REFS trick.. if its NOT 1.1.3, JUST DFU MODE AND RESTORE IT WITH 1.1.1 VIA ITUNES..

just put it into dfu mode.. and restore..

turn the iphone off,

now HOLD the middle button, and KEEP it held.. PLUG YOUR iphone in comp.. the phone shld start to boot..KEEP holding the button, when the iphone comes in itunes, itunes shld say that the PHONE is in recovery mode.. SO

OK, I tried the *#301#, and the firmware is 1.0.2 (I think at one point, someone instructed me to try this version).
The WiFi is : 00:1B:63:E2:B9:2D
EMIE : 01124500445xxxx

I went into DFU Mode and restored to v1.1.1
It said" The ipod could not be restore, an unknown error (4).
It has been about 65 minutes, and the ipod is black with the grey apple logo,, and at the bottom, the time thing is turning in a circle still.

Do I update again using your second set of instructions? What is the middle button? The "home" button? Also how do you get out of DFU, sing iBricker?

After I upgraded from 1.0.2 tp 1.1.1, The iphone kept on running, with the round time thingee going round and round. I could only get to the emergency screen by downgrading to version 1.0.2.
